5/10mhz channels on AR958x mini PCIe card

tldr; can someone confirm that the AR958x mini PCIe card is capable of 5mhz and 10mhz channel widths? Hello all! There's a lot of posts about 5/10 mhz channels but haven't found what I'm looking for. In short I would like to be able to detect 5/10mhz channels using kismet - in an attempt to do this ...

Ah I should have thought of this! Seems so obvious now. I'll play with that when I get a chance, I'm sure that will fix it. Thank you!

EoIP tunnel added to bridge breaks some internet traffic

Good day to you all! This is of low importance but am very curious to know if anybody can tell me if this is a config issue or a RouterOS bug. Friend and I have been in the networking WISP world for a long time so we know our way around RouterOS, and from time to time we like to play old games that ...

Re: Synch Address-lists with Master Router

Thank you for the replies, I will look into both of these options, had never considered the DNS idea. As far as the Blacklist, have you found that it blocks the majority of brute force attacks? Perhaps I am over thinking it to have my own dynamic lists if most of that work has already been done for ...

Synch Address-lists with Master Router

Hello all, I have read through several posts that do similar things to what I want to do but have not been able to figure out a decent solution for what I need. Basically, on all our routers we have the well known brute force prevention stuff found here http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Bruteforce_login...

Re: iBGP OSPF and default route distribution

Thanks for the detailed info! So in summary, I DO want to have my provider send a default route over each eBGP session even though my routers have full Internet routing tables, and set OSPF to redistribute default if installed. Do not redistribute default over iBGP. Is this correct? Thanks again ver...

iBGP OSPF and default route distribution

Hello all, I need help with a routing problem and I know it's related to my lack of knowledge. We have 4 routers that have iBGP sessions between themselves, and each has an eBGP session with our upstream provider. Inside our network we are using OSPF. Each of these edge routers are set to "Alwa...

Mikrotik Hotspot blocking core traffic

Greetings! I have a strange issue that I can't seem to find others having.  I have a 2011rb installed at a tower location where we use hotspot for authentication.  ports 6 7 and 8 are in a bridge, the hotspot is configured on the bridge interface.  However, there is another tower (let's call it towe...

Re: Network traffic pattern alerts when redundant link goes down.

Thanks for the info guys, I got busy with other projects and forgot I had this post. To answer the one question everything is completely routed. Each BH is on it's own /30 which resides on the router of the tower they are physically at. I didn't realize the traffic charts in routeros could be set to...

Network traffic pattern alerts when redundant link goes down.

Hello, I have searched the forums for ideas to identify when a redundant link goes down and have not been able to find any. If a tower has two high capacity redundant links available, and one goes down I need a way to become notified. Sure, if a BH literally dies nagios will alert us, but what if th...

How to make HOTSPOT Re-authenticate with Radius

Hello all! So I've googled this to death and can't seem to find what I am looking for. This isn't a regular hotspot scenario, we are a WISP attempting to use hotspot features to disable monthly paying customers across our network. I have radius working just fine, authenticating and queueing based on...

Hello all, I actually come to you with what I think is already a mostly working solution that I wanted to share with those that might have the same needs. But I would love to hear any suggested improvements since I felt a little out of my depths with some of the changes I had to make to this script ...

Sorry for the delay in getting back, and thanks for the help! ok, so I did a test between routerboards that were one further "out" in both directions. Doing a test from Site E (of course is connected to site D) to a routerboard on the "other side" of site A This was not a full du...

Re: Conflicting bandwidth tests

Thanks for the reply, below I have a traceroute from my computer which is one hop from Site A. The data below is from running the download test from site C in order to maximize load on the network, since doing the test from D would only add about 65mb to the load for a total of about 90mb . I also r...

Conflicting bandwidth tests

Hello all! So I'm not sure where to go with this issue I've been having. In some ways it seems like a BH issue, but surely it must be something else. A short summary of our network: We use /30 networks between all hops and OSPF for routing. All BH's in this situation are licensed and can do 200+ mbp...

Re: EoiP or MPLS for layer 2 Trasport over network

Thanks for the reply, I've been doing more reading on this topic and I think I will move to an mpls backbone in the future, though for now I will use the EoIP tunnel.

As far as migrating to an MPLS Backbone, is there a way to do it smoothly with minimal or no down time?

EoiP or MPLS for layer 2 Trasport over network

Hello, I've been reading through several of the topics on the forum but haven't found anything quite geared for what I am looking for. A company has asked us (a WISP using all MK) to give them layer 2 transport between two of their rural locations and their fiber WAN. We have never done anything lik...

DDoS Attacks

Recently our entire network was having significant packet loss and latency for about a 30 minute period. I later discovered that a client of ours with a 10mb/10mb account was the victim of a DDoS attack during the exact same time period, until he powered off the effected device. I have confirmed thi...

Re: Generic VoIP QoS Priority in WISP environment

Thanks for the quick response! I was afraid that would be the case. So let's say I do the tos packet option, would that be as simple as finding out the tos packet value for most common voip manufactures like Cisco, Polycom, etc or can tos values very from model to model from the same manufacturer? Generic VoIP QoS Priority in WISP environment

Hello all! I work for a WISP and my goal is simple, but possibly not doable. I want to prioritize all VoIP traffic across our network regardless to the VoIP provider. Everything I have found on the net have had great solutions for specific VoIP providers by either IP, TOS packet etc, but nothing for...

Bandwidth Priorities for different clients

Hello all. I work for a WISP that wants to have 3 rates for people to pay for, up to 3mbps, up to 5mbps, and up to 8mbps. We would like to somehow give highest priority to the 8mb accounts, then the 5mb accounts, and let the 3mb accounts sit at the least priority. Our network is completely routed, 3...

First off thanks for all the info that was here already, it has helped a lot. No one seems to have covered that, do I define it just like the cisco passwords ev...
