failover

I'm using this http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Failover_Scripting. it does great at increasing the distance if ISP1 fails. though once it is restored it does not decrease the distance. the problem is that once the distance ISP1 is increased to 3 it will not ping anything on the internet. ISP2 has no p...

Re: ping

I'm using the one located at http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Failover_Scripting and it seems to be working. for a beginners some extra information would be helpful. 1) does it need to be put in a scheduler? 2) and the policies that need to be checked off.

Re: ping

i hoping to create a failover. is there any examples of what do to on down and up.

there doesn't appear to be a way to specify the interface under netwatch. that would seem necessary for failover.

Re: ping

if the router is connected to a modem that has the gateway ip address, it checks that connection. if the modem has lost internet, that is not tested and the router had no way of knowing that.

Re: Need some failover help

i believe the problem here is that the 2nd route needs to be already set up with a distance of 2.

on another note. does this need to be set up on a scheduler so it keeps checking or is that built in to the script already?

I'm unable to login to my routers through webfig from either inside the network or from the web via static IP. I'm using iPhone4s or iPad iOS6. Did not have a problem prior to upgrade.

subnetting

i read the article at http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Testwiki/IP_addressing_and_subnetting_principles and i'm mildly confused. about 2/3 down the page an example is given of 173.120.0.0/18. this resulting in 4 subnets with a possible 62 host. addresses at 173.20.0.0, 173.20.0.64, 173.20.128, and 173....
