RouterOS Graphs Wrong after CCR-1036 Replaced

Hi Folks, I had to replace a CCR-1036 core router today in the data centre. Everything is ok and traffic levels on the core switches is correct. However the built in graphs on router OS are now wrong since the change over. I uploaded the config of the bad router to the replacement router. The bad ro...

Thanks Sindy, we are contracted to supply a L2 connection from Schools Routers to the main Schools network outside our network. We aren't responsible for the security.

Re: Retag frames on a trunk port

Hi Sindy, Thanks for the config snippit. The PPPoE server is at the end of VLAN6 outside our network. These come back into the network on VLAN6 as well. The CMTS is just acting as a bridge and sends all the tagged traffic from the schools routers to a dedicated interface to a switch. The traffic lea...

Re: Retag frames on a trunk port

Thanks for replies, I was thinking of QinQ but have never really used it. I'll give you more information about the topology. It's a docsis cable network to which Schools are connected. The CMTS I am using is limited to allowing 1 modem on a vlan so each school is on it's own vlan. The protocol is PP...

Retag frames on a trunk port

Hi Folks, Can router OS do what I need. Lets say I have ingress tagged traffic on ether1 from 5 different vlans, lets say the vlan-ids are 1,2,3,4,5 I want any frames tagged with 1,2,3,4 or 5 re-tagged as 6 and these will egress on ether2. Traffic coming back into the network doesn't need to be reta...

Queues and Traffic Flow

Hello Folks, We dynamically create simple queues to limit speed of subscribers by IP address. I've done lab tests and it seems to work. If I limit my connection to 2Mbps there is no way the wan port of my router can exceed this. However when we look at our netflow collector data it appears the subsc...

DHCP Server for Cable Modem CPE

Hello Folks, At the moment we use ISCDHCP server for CPE DHCP on a docsis cable network. This is how it works: [*]The CMTS forwards the DHCP discover from the CPE device to the DHCP server. Let's say the GiAddr is 172.26.8.1 [*][The ISCDHCP server has several shared networks configured under the net...

Warn Customers about fair usage

Hello Folks, I'd appreciate some tips and comments. My plan is as follows: 1.Use source based routing on CCR1 to mark upstream packets with src IP x.x.x.x/x on ingress interface X and forward to another Microtik CCR2. 2. Customers are shown a page to advise they are in breach of a fair usage policy ...

Phantom IPs responding!

Hi Folks, I work for an ISP and we use a CCR1036-8G-2S running OS 6.33.5 running BGP to our peers. Recently I set up Traffic Flow and it's being collected by an nfsen server. We can view the data using nfdump. We can see destination traffic for unused subnets which is normal due to port scanners etc...

Aggreate Routes for eBGP export.

Hi Folks, Quick question. I have 3 eBGP peers same subnets are advertised to all. I have to aggregate networks for eBGP export. I created aggregated networks and assigned to instance for peer A and peer B see below, then I noticed I didn't need to create any for Peer C. My question is, does the aggr...

Re: Need to filter redistrubute connected

Hi Zero,
If lets say I add network 8.8.8.0/22 but my filter will only allow 8.8.8.0/24 to peer A. Will it work OK?
So from what you say if I have an interface on my router 8.8.8.1/24 I should announce it by adding 8.8.8.1/24 to Networks, and this is best practice?

Thanks for your tips.

Need to filter redistrubute connected

Hi folks,
When I have redistribute connected enabled for a BGP instance, all my connected routes are being advertised to our external peer, private etc, even though I have route filters set.
How can I redistribute connected and still have the sub-nets I want to advertised filtered?

Thanks,
Q.

Hotspot Walled Garen Portal Project

Hi Folks, I'm working on a project which will provide internet access to caravan sites via WiFi. From what I read routerOS should be well able to handle this for me. SNMP OID For number of registered clients to an AP

Hello,

Can someone advise me if this is possible. I see an old thread about it but its from years ago, but there might be a newer way to do this. I need to get a report on the number of clients registered to an AP by SNMP. Any help appreciated.
