Re: Help setting up Capsman

I have these configured and working, but both using the same config which means they're both on the same channel. As they are in pretty close proximity to each other should I be forcing them to different channels or setting them to auto?

Help setting up Capsman

I'm trying to configure Capsman with CRS switch configured as a router and a wAP ac but it's failing to bring up either of the wlan on the cAP. Can someone have a quick glance over the relevant parts of my config. I'm sure i'm missing something very simple.  This is the CRS router /caps-man channel ...

Thank you kindly. Adding the in-interface worked. I'm puzzled as to how the same rules worked on my RB951

Ok, I got this working by disabling my drop everything else filter rule. Can someone have a quick look at my filters and tell me where I'm going wrong. /ip firewall filter add chain=input comment="allow icmp" protocol=icmp add chain=input comment="allow winbox" dst-port=8291 prot...

DNS server not working

I've copied lots of my config from my old RB951 to my new CRS and I'm completely stumped as to why DNS is not working. My clients work fine with static Google DNS but I cannot get the local Mikrotik one that I'm handing out in the DHCP leases to work. Can someone have a quick look at my config, it m...

Re: Switching with 2 vlans on RB951

Ok, I have a good grasp of this, configure both vlans on the trunk, create a bridge for each vlan and add the access ports to the vlan bridges they belong to. Where i'm coming stuck is that I've ether2 set as master and 3-5 as slave and it won't let me assign the ports. Do I remove the master port f...

Re: Switching with 2 vlans on RB951

Right I've been thinking about this and my plans have slightly changed. My plan is now to connect eth5 of the above to eth2 of an RB750 as trunk ports and assign access ports eth1 to vlan2 and eth 3-5 to vlan1 on the RB750 which would act as a switch

Switching with 2 vlans on RB951

I am running a config similar to the default config on a rb951, eth1 is the wan, eth2 is master, eth3-5 are slave, wlan and eth2 are bridged. I am trying to implement a 2 vlan setup, one for management, one for the virtual ap for guests but am coming stuck getting it to switch out ports 3-5, I canno...

Re: Prioritise traffic to and from external address

I'm coming back to this, I still have not implemented it. I'd simply like to priorities traffic to and from a device on my lan. Is there a simple method? It is always to and from the same external IP and always on the same port.

Prioritise traffic to and from external address

I have a RB751 and am mostly very happy with the default QOS management. I have a Dreambox which needs to send receive 3-4 packets (about 350bytes) every 8 seconds, therefore I'd like to prioritise it as I have some teenagers who are heavy torrent and Youtube users. Is there a simple way I can prior...

Re: Get to dyndns hostname from lan

Pog,

Are you sure name resolution is the problem? Check out the wiki article on hairpin nat.

http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Hairpin_NAT

That looks like it could be what's happening, but the problem is i need this working for a few devices, my laptop, another laptop and a phone.

Re: Get to dyndns hostname from lan

I've a few services running and I do not wish to use dmz as it creates security issues, I'd rather have it natted behind a firewall. What do you mean by DMZ? SoHo routers refer to unconditional port forwarding to a LAN machine as a DMZ. In more advanced networks DMZ refers to a third network other ...

Re: Get to dyndns hostname from lan

Yes, I tried this with dns, but this redirects all traffic to dyndns.org to the lan ip which is not what I wanted. I just want myhostname.dyndns.org to redirect.

Get to dyndns hostname from lan

I've got an RB750 with pretty much the default config. I've got it updating dyndns fine but I'd now like to add a redirect when I try that myhostname.dyndns.org from lan it resolves.

Removed the dst-nat rule and it worked after a reboot, it seems masq is enough, it doesn't need forwarding with this router like it did with my last Linksys

Cannot get Sip to register

Hi, I've setup an RB750g as a router with mostly the default config. Ether1-gateway is set to static public ip. The sip phone is set to static dhcp lease of 192.168.88.252, I've the ports forwarded but I get sip registration failed, although it did work for a few hours when I first set it up. The fo...
