Re: Queue Type: Default-small packet loss

We wanted "default" queues to be created by PPPoE, not "default-small". Our solution was to set the queue size for default-small to be the same as default (50). Then the queues are still created as "default-small" but are of the same size as default, allowing higher-spe...

Re: About interference

We have 802.11a items all over the place located quite close together but maybe you should try putting some distance (even 0.5m or 1m if possible) between them.

Re: What is the maximum speed I can expect

Do yourself a favour and bin the 133. It is a serious bottleneck. A 411 should cost less than €40 and will go way faster than a 133. A 411AH at about €75 will go even faster.

133s are very underpowered.

My setup: RB493AH 2 x XR5 (one backhaul, station-wds, top of 5GHz band, nstreme / other is ap, bridge, bottom of 5GHz band, no n-streme) Power back to 20dB on both cards All interfaces bridged suffered a massive drop in CCQ after about 1 minute of UDP bandwidth testing, followed by disconnection of ...

Re: 3x R5H - Noise floor approx -83 on bench across all channels

I hear you, but these numers are key performance indicators on which descisions might be made!

Little problems like this just smell bad. We lived through years of bad Tranzeo firmwares.

I suppose we should give them time for the product to mature. It could be a great card yet.

Mikrotik, any input?

3x R5H - Noise floor approx -83 on bench across all channels

I took delivery of 3 R5H cards to test against the beloved XR5 and found that they all reported a noise floor on the bench of approx -83 (+-2dBm) across the whole 5GHz band. This was on an RB411 running V3.16 in a 19dBi Rootenna in the office. I tried the 3 cards in sequence and saw the same thing. ...

Don't know about this particular antenna, but MARS is a very reputable manufacturer and makes antennae for Alvarion, Aperto, etc.

We have used the Aperto ones and they are good quality.

Re: Mikrotik & WiMax

I have to agree with the above post. Stop harping on about Wimax on Mikrotik. Use Mikrotik for wi-fi networks and buy Wimax gear for Wimax networks! Simple!

As the above post said, the vendors are now marketing cheaper 16d gear to WISPs.

Now, where is the .11n support???!!

Re: where to get rb133

Okay, looks like you have your reasons. BTW when I was referring to power, it was CPU power. The 133 are poor at being an AP, especially with Nstreme. You shouldn't put more than 5-10 customers on a 133 AP.

Is there a reason you can't use the 411 (same size?). The 133 is seriously underpowered (CPU).

Re: Help with Bridging two NICs to be as one ???

Normally to bridge two interfaces on a Mikrotik: 1) add a bridge 2) add both interfaces to it 3) if one of them is a wlan in AP mode, enable dynamic WDS Steps: Click on Bridge in the left menu Click on the red plus sign (on the Bridge tab) Click OK (accept all defaults) Click on the Ports tab Click ...

Re: The best configuration for large networks

The first option will not work at all, too much network in one segment. Why are public IPs in short supply? The second option is also faulted because you seem to be suggesting that you daisy-chain the whole 50 sites in one long linear string. If you lose one PTP link, you may lose your whole network...

Re: Tranzeo radios or Mikrotik radios? Recommend Plz

In terms of reliability, the Mikrotik gear is far superior to the Tranzeos. We put in hundreds of Tranzeos over a two year period and many of them are still working fine but practically every problem customer is on Tranzeo. We just swap them out for Mikrotiks, or now, Ubiquity Nanostations. Sometime...

Re: 5Ghz P2P problem - disconnections when signal is good

500mA is not enough to power a 532, XR5 and SR5 reliably. And by replacing the XR5 with an SR5 you have reduced the power draw. This does not prove that the XR5 was faulty.

Re: Client Disconnect Issues

We are seeing the same issue. We took down an AP and moved it to a new pole and now all of the Tranzeo CPE simultaneously disconnect at random periods. The Mikrotik CPE stay associated.

Hardware retries=4. Firmware = 3.7. TxPower backed off to 19 (12) card rates.

Anyone?
