Re: IPv6 Default Gateway ::/0 unreachable

Just to make a note for my future self:

Switching off Fast Forward on the Bridge interface made RA working again (but the routes are still unreachable). With fast forward on there is no RA, despite everything looks correct. This has been v6.43.7.

OSPFv3 doesn't (always) work on bridge with hardware offloading

This is v6.42.3 mipsbe speaking. I have noticed that the weird problems I'm noticing was caused by OSPFv3 being down, which is in turn was the result that MT's OSPF instance was completely silent. First I was wondering where all the link-local IPv6 addresses are gone from the bridges, but first I wa...

Re: Super Mario Theme

Could someone make scripts that play Fate of the Fairies, Ancient Makes, Silver Will, Challenger Invited, and The Merciless Savior (they are all themes from the Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky First Chapter and Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky Second Chapter). Thanks in advance. If you offer...

Reset ppp interface counters

As far as I see this is asked periodically but does not seem to have been answered. Is it possible to reset counters of PPP (and many non-ethernet) interfaces, and if not, why not? PPP actually keep the counter even if down (disabled) so the only way seems to be removing and recreating the interfac...

Beware IPv6 ND RA hop limit

This has ben dolved but maybe someone googles for it: after connection ipv6 hop_limit is zero (hop_limit=0), which results non-working ipv6 connection. (In linux it's /proc/sys/net/ipv6/conf/wlan0/hop_limit for example.) When I keep IPv6 ND hop limit on default (like in winbox) it seems to use '0' a...

CCR stable firmware?

Now that v6.2 was released and the download links upgraded on the MT website I wonder which is the stable firmware for CCRs (definitely not v6.2)? v6.1? Is it available somehow or do I have to find someone who already posesses it? (It have shipped with v6.0rc14, I had no bad experiences with it in t...

v6.2 ssh key import broken

/user ssh-keys import user=grin public-key-file=id_dsa.pub key size is limited by 1024 bytes (see FIPS186-2)! The question is: why did you have to change it (from FIPS186-3)? It has been working for ages now, with this move you pretty much break a huge amount of external control tools, as well as s...

Re: IEEE 802.3ah/IEEE 802.3ag

The network technology we have inside the Linux kernel (used by Mikrotik) is outdated. Hmm, why the ranting? You are banging your head on open gates, and don't make anyone happy along. Linux pretty much supports everything we need, and MikroTik in general supports 802.1ad (SVLANs), and it is not an...

Re: IEEE 802.3ah/IEEE 802.3ag

Sorry to dredge this thread back up, but I'd like to register my interest for Ethernet OAM.
Yeah, dredging. :) So yes, there are quite a large amount of people would be happy to see things like 802.1ag monitoring or RFC2544 measurement features. I register as one. :-)

Re: Link down and dhcp client: losing connection

Ohkay, answering myself; support ticket #2011112866000355, it seems that the problem exists even in v5.9 prerelease, there seems to be no trivial fix so far, hacking required.

Link down and dhcp client: losing connection

RB7xx with v5.8. Is it possible that RB doesn't DHCPREQUEST the address immediately after link down+link up? There is DHCP authorisation on the network and if the provider equipment reboots it clears DHCP access table, and if there is no DHCP entry then no access. Nearly everything re-requests dhcp ...
