Re: RouterOS vs OpenWRT

So if by "transport layer" you mean anything above layer 2, you can absolutely do this with MetaROUTER. If you mean layer 2 or below (you want to implement a different MAC layer for the wireless interface, say), then...yeah, you're right. I think I will find out as soon as the board arriv...

Re: Adding FXO capability to RouterBoard

MiniPCI solutions do exist: http://www.openvox.cn/en/products/fxofxs-cards/a400m.html yes but they are very expensive, the one I need retails for 200$. I can buy the Linksys PAP2T for 47$, and it retails for 62.5$ around Europe I remember buying around 2000 a 56k PSTN Modem for around 60$ (cheap ba...

Re: RouterOS vs OpenWRT

Which RouterBOARD did you buy? RB751U-2HnD I know it's not listed on OpenWRT supported hardware, but I want to try it and see if I can make a port Have you considered installing OpenWRT within MetaROUTER? Yes, I will try this step too, but I would need to encapsulate my transport layer within TCP o...

Re: RouterOS vs OpenWRT

What I miss most from any other system is PCQ. Nice, I just read about it. But RouterOS has also some nice wireless features / extensions / protocols that standard 802.11 (thus OpenWRT) does not offer. Do you care to elaborate some more on this? I couldn't find exactly anywhere in the documentation...

RouterOS vs OpenWRT

I ordered a RB and I plan to install openWRT for a research project. I will use a custom implementation of the transport layer, and I'm afraid that RouterOS is not open enough to let me play with its sourcecode. Anyhow I'm worried about losing some key functionality while switching OS, thus handicap...

Adding FXO capability to RouterBoard

Is it possible to have a routerboard to act as an ATA gateway?

The rj11 port of an USB modem can let me make VOIP calls?

Is there a minipci solution for this?

Openvox card are very expensive, and I can't attach the RB to an external ATA gateway, any other idea?

200 mbit wireless bridge are cool... 600 mbit wireless bridges are ubercool!

I hope 802.11ac will come soon to MT :)

Re: ARM based RouterBoard

Why did you decide to go with MIPS in the first place? I get how most high end MIPS (the 680mhz one you use for example) doesn't need more than a passive heatsink vs the ARM's and its fairly easy to get a hold of the shelf chips with a PCI bus, but why did you decide initially? I only ask because I...
