Re: High Availability

Make all 3 links = trunks. Connect switches to each other directly using trunks as well. So ethernet bonding on Mikrotik allows for selected interfaces to be on seperate routers? I would like the config to be as simple as possible since not all people involved have the technical skills to troublesh...

Re: High Availability

multiple pppoe servers is another way to do it (if you're an ISP - as a LAN, pppoe would just be lame) dynamic routing is another way, but that's mostly for routers and servers. ethernet bonding is another tool in the toolbox.... I would like to avoid dynamic routing if possible and if I'm correct ...

Re: RB1100 with 2 seperate networks and only 1 gateway

VLANs are not necessary in this case. Please post your configuration if possible. Also point out which network cannot access internet.

Thanks for your reply. I ended up going back to defaults and redoing the configuration without a problem.

Re: The Dude Alternatives

We have NetXMS monitoring about 150 nodes - collecting about 50 OIDs per node. Another install collecting about 70 OIDs per node on 50 nodes. MikroTik, Linux, Windows, various vendor switches, NASes, etc... Very happy with it! And its free... Thanks. Do you use an agent for those Windows servers? I...

High Availability

Hi, I'm trying to figure out what the best configuraton is to achieve (basic) high availability with 2 mikrotik RB2011's. Allthough VRRP is an option, I was contemplating a setup where each router has its own WAN/LAN IP and a seperate DHCP pool in the same subnet. That way if a router fails, clients...

Re: The Dude Alternatives

Well, take a look at http://www.netxms.org, and will find an anternative that is like The Dude, really!
Has anyone tested netxms in a large(r) environment? It's not very clear to me how I can create a structure/hierarchy with all servers and network components.

RB1100 with 2 seperate networks and only 1 gateway

Hi, I'm trying to configure my new RB1100 and for some reason I'm failing... I need to configure two seperate networks/subnets, with internet connectivity. I've created 2 bridges and dhcp pools, but from one of the two networks I don't have access to internet. What am I missing? Do I need to use VLA...
