Re: VirtualAP question

i tried this one also (which i believe is the same) with the same results. [oid("iso.org.dod.internet.private.enterprises.mikrotik.mikrotikExperimentalModule.mtXRouterOs.mtxrWireless.mtxrWlApTable.mtxrWlApEntry.mtxrWlApClientCount.12")] any recommendations or maybe another approach to be a...

Re: VirtualAP question

as far as the output of the command /interface wireless print oid...

im guessing that the "0" is the physical WLAN interface, and the "1" and "2" are the VirtualAP interfaces.

maybe?

Re: VirtualAP question

yes i did ask in support.
the problem is that it wont work, it displays a blank space where the client-count value should be. i will attach a pic
Capture.PNG
did i miss something normis in the label syntax or does it look right.
i thought something like this would be simple.

Re: VirtualAP question

im trying to read the client-count oid for a wlan virtual ap and display it as a dude label for a device. the reason im doing this is because we are using hardware that has 1 wireless card but we are broadcasting 2 SSID's so we do this by virtual ap's. MAIN GOAL:: i want to be able to see how many w...

Re: custom label for the dude

ok i got this far... i used the OID from /interface wireless print oid and applied it to the label as [Device.Name] [Device.FirstAddress] [device_performance()][Device.ServicesDown] Wireless Clients: [oid("1.3.6.1.4.1.14988.1.1.1.3.1.6.5")] Wireless Clients: [oid("1.3.6.1.4.1.14988.1....

Re: custom label for the dude

for student access across campus i use the Mikrotik Metal 2.4GHz AP's. this device has 1 WLAN interface and 1 EHT interface. i create 2 VirtualAP's and use WLAN1 as the master interface. this allows me to create 2 different SSID's to broadcast, using different VLAN tags and security profiles. this i...

Re: custom label for the dude

ok how do you configure a virtual ap inside of router os or how do i make this work with virtual ap's . this would be perfect if i had multiple physical wlan cards but in the metal devices i only have one, hence the reason for the virtual ap's. i dont know how to add virtualap's in the terminal. i j...

ok... let me give that a try.
i dont care if it shows client connected count for each VirtualAP or it it shows a combined count of registered users.
either way is good with me.

custom label for the dude

I am trying to use a custom label for the wireless devices to show the number of wireless clients connected to the AP. The problem I am having is that we use VirtualAP’s to broadcast 2 SSID’s that students can connect to for different purposes. The label I’m using is… [Device.Name] [device_performan...

i have multiple metal groove 2.4ap's on campus and we ran into a problem where we need wireless but cant run ethernet cable to the locations. that would be ok if we used a different model ap that had more than one antenna or radio but the groove ap's dont. i attached 3 screenshots of the setup. is t...

that would be nice if funding will allow for it.
it is going to be a slow process to replace all of the low power HP access points with the Tik's.

Re: Bad signal level but good SNR....

here is one more questions for the wireless guru's out there

is it better to run the AP in b/g mode or b only or g only

i dont care about the throughput so much as i do coverage and penetration into homes.
is one of the modes better than the others in that aspect

Re: Bad signal level but good SNR....

have you ever heard of a low power (i think 100W) FM broadcast tower causing interference with 2.4GHz AP's. it seem like if i kill power to the transmitter the wifi starts working more reliable and clients get better signals. like i said earlier the tower is within a few feet of one AP and withing a...

Re: Bad signal level but good SNR....

does it make more sense to use high gain antennas and turn the tx power down to keep it in the legal limits or is it better to use max tx power with a matched antenna to keep it in the legal limits. im covering 2 different types of areas. the first is inside of dorms where there are dorms with 16 or...

we have started switching over from HP M110 AP's on campus to the mikrotik groove 2.4 AP (the metal one @ 1.6W) i have noticed a issue today and am looking for an answer. when i login to see the registered clients it shows a few clients connected with what i consider poor signal strength (between -8...

ok will this work. i will refer to the AP with a wired connection as MAIN and the AP that i can not get a wired connection to as REMOTE the only thing that throws me off is that im not just broadcasting 1 SSID. i have 2 virtual AP's created bridged together with VLAN's to do tagging. could i setup b...

look at the cut-sheet again. it is not 2 separate networks. it is just extending a network to a remote location using WDS.

FCC limit for WiFi AP

scenario:: i have just ordered a groove A-2hn AP (631mW output) and a 15dBi omni antenna connecting the ap directly to ant. (no cable loss) using formula to calc EIRP i get 19.954 Watts EIRP = P ´ 10 dBi/10 (P = transmitter-amp power in Watts. dBi = gain in dBi - cable attenuation in dB. This result...
