Difference between RB2011UiAS-IN and RB2011UiAS-2HnD-IN

Hi all,

I want to replace a failed RB2011UiAS-2HnD-IN with another Mikrotik device, and I am considering the RB2011UiAS-IN since I don't need wireless capabilities. Is wireless the only feature missing in the RB2011UiAS-IN or does it lack any other feature of the RB2011UiAS-2HnD-IN?

Re: RB2011 switch port groups

Euhm, why are all your speeds set to 100Mbit? If I do an export the speed are not explicitly listed unless I forced them? Can you try forcing a gigabit or setting auto-negotiation? Otherwise try to clear your config, configure the bare minimum (put them in a switch group) and try then? I checked th...

Using iperf of file copies I can easily reach the full Gigabit, Again, once more to thank you Quindor. Perhaps you will led fullerms to reach this goal also, by showing him up a small solution in more details!? Fullerms does your MikroTik RB2011 support vlan´s? Can this also be a point you should w...

Whats the throughput you guys are getting on the Gig ports? I tested with jperf and the max was 225Mbps between two hosts connected to the same switch group. Is this normal?

Re: RB2011 Leds not working

Like I said - switch chip does not support this. They can flash, but so slowly, that it is useless for displaying network activity.

But can we reconfigure the leds to dispplay a custom status like Wireless status?

Re: RB2011 switch port groups

Back to the original question. If you need WAN port to be 1G port then do the following: 1. Set master port for ports 1, 2 and 6 to none. 2. Set master port for ports 3-5 to ether2. 3. Set master port for ports 7-10 to ether6. 4. Make ether2 and ether6 a part of the bridge (bridge-local). This way ...

Re: RB2011 switch port groups

I have been searching high and low for a Copper SFP, but they are all in excess of 70 USD. Anyplace where I can source them for cheap? Do you really need it? 10 copper ports is not enough for you? Back to the original question. If you need WAN port to be 1G port then do the following: 1. Set master...

Re: RB2011 switch port groups

Ok thanks. Checked my config in Winbox, Ether6 is master for 7-10. And Ether 2-5, ether6 and wlan 1 are part of bridge-local. Is this correct? And I assume ether 1 is left out because it is the "WAN" port and must be routed? The configuration I listed was only to use the RB2011 as a compl...

Set ether1 as the master for ether 2-5, then set ether6 as the master for ether 7-10, then bridge ether6 to ether1. New to routeros, so please excuse the noob question. How to configure this? In cli or the web interface? Either one... Or you can use Winbox which is a free GUI configuration and mana...

Re: Questions on setting up new RB2011UAS-2HnD-IN

Hello fullerms, 1. DHCP Reservations - not working. I populated the MAC Address details of the devices and assigned an IP to each of them, but the devices are not getting the IPS I want them to. I think you are doing IP-Mac bindings. If you define a DHCP IP address pool as an example from 192.168.0...

Re: RB493G Bridging Vs Switching

to clear some misconceptions if you talk about RouterOS and RouterBOARD then difference between bridging and switching is as follows: bridge interface is software implementation of hardware switch and thus, features can be extended using software. Basic functionality is directly comparable to switc...

Of course it goes over CPU how would they rich each other otherwise :) What is your use-case for this board? Are you suffering from performance? Re: RB493G Bridging Vs Switching

The RB493 has two switch groups right? When there is traffic between ports connected to the different switch groups, is it handled in silicon or does have to go up to the CPU?

Re: RB493G Bridging Vs Switching

Hello fullerms,

I don´t know your money budget, but what do you think about the RB800 + the RB816 in combination, can this perhaps better
manage your network and is also very powerful enough for a long time.

Thanks, but I need Gigabit Ethernet. Appears that the RB816 is only FE?

Ok thanks. One more question I'm signing up for a 100 Mbps line, and might upgrade to 200 Mbps later. I have a mixture of Gigabit and Fast Ethernet devices (about 20 including 2 NAS devices) . Wireless is only used for casual browsing, so wireless throughput is not a big factor. I am also planning t...

Re: RB493G Bridging Vs Switching

bridging - you can see trafic on all bridged ports What does this mean? The device acts like a hub? Or is it port mirroring? You can monitor communication status in the web-console and WinBox and set Graphing to each of those interfaces. Cause in the "switch group" you can monitor whole &...

Hi all,

I read that there are additional features with bridging at the cost of lower throughput compared to switching. Can someone list out the pros / cons of Bridging and Switching on this device?

Re: RB2011UAS-2HnD-IN Questions Topic

To clarify how to ports are connected, here is a block diagram. We will include it in the manual too: RB2011 wireless.png Hi there, The block diagram seems to indicate that any traffic from FE to GE ports will be managed by the CPU. Is that correct? If so, has anyone tested the FE to GE throughput?
