Re: BGP spamming updates

Disabling ether2 stops the bgp flood, so something is happening there. Once BGP re-establishes across the link, spamming starts.

BGP spamming updates

I have two CCR's in an active/passive config. For about a year now, they are spamming BGP updates to my provider. Like 1-3 a second. BGP - a lot of updates

Hi Guys.

My BGP sessions are sending a ton of updates (around 10 a second). Our ISP as advised we need to sort it out. I cannot see why this would be occurring.

Is anyone able to advise what I'd need to check to slow this down?

There are so many threads on this. It's been touted for v7. So was Ikev2, but since Microsoft Azure makes Ikev2 mandatory, Mikrotik actually introduced it into v6.

You're going to be waiting for v7 for some time.

Is there anyway to have each router endpoint in an ipsec wan able to talk to each other?

If we configure DNS on one of the ipsec routers to use DNS of a sever in another network, the traffic routes out the wan. even with nat src rules in place.

Re: RB2011UAS-RM - auto negotiation problem

Was this ever resolved, or did Mikrotik shove it in the too hard basket?

We have this on 2x RB2011-RM's. Both switch groups flapping.

Actually, read up and see it was a hardware fault. So how do I tell what version of the 2011 it is?

not having a established/related rule makes connections slow (CCR)

Hi Guys. Have my CCR with around 100 rules, quite a few subnets and routing. I had an established rule close to the top as I wanted to avoid processing the rules. I mean inside of the Mikrotik OS, to spawn up virtual routers within RouterOS, like metarouter, which works on CCR etc. We have a couple of Fortinets to do this where we need it.

Just bumping this because you can make this work, we just did.

You have your main cisco DMVPN router connect to the mikrotik using a simple GRE tunnel. Add the routes to the DMVPN and away you go. It's really not hard.

You just need to manually add the routes to the Mikrotik.

Netinstall / Restore questions

Hi Guys,

When I did a full restore from one CCR to another, it took the original CCRs mac address. Is this to be expected? I see this can be fixed by using console cable going to the routerboot menu and resetting the memory.

Is it possible to access this without a console/null modem cable?

Thanks.

Re: RouterOS 6.1 released

On RC13, 60 days uptime in production. Do you recommend upgrading to 6.1?
Don't fix what ain't broken. If you are happy and nothing is missing, stay with what you have.
Thank you :)

gre config

Hi guys,

what's the best way to configure the following:

site a:
IP 192.168.100.1/24

site b:
10.200.16.1/24

Site b also has a perimeter network of 172.18.16.2/24

Would you setup the gre using a local ip in the perimeter network of site b, or create a new range? Likewise with site a?

Hosting Provider and Queues

Hi Guys, We host a number of things here, and I was wondering about my queue setup. I am configuring queues on perimeter addresses. I originally used the defautl queue, queue-small. I've noticed many (thousands) of dropped packets. I've changed both upload and download queue types to SFQ, and it see...

Can RC13 users on CCR please confirm this bug.

When using multiple ports in a firewall filter, the counters do not track correctly

If I separate these out in to separate rules, it counts correctly.

Confused about the firewall

Hi Guys, So I am filtering on the firewall. I have an internal ip, say 172.18.1.1 that I am dst-natting web traffic to from 202.20.1.1 If I create a firewall rule blocking traffic to destination 202.20.1.1, nothing happens. When I change this to the nat address of 172.18.1.1 it works. Does that mean...

Does anyone get long pauses on the CCR? Almost like it's timing out? We've noticed we get this outage for about 5 seconds. If you are trying to login to the router at that time, the login hangs as well. Had this on all versions so far. I've got no CCR to compare this and I think I haven't got this ...

Most Stable Version of 5.x for core router

Hi Guys, What's the most stable version of 5.x for a core router? We are going to downgrade from a CCR to our RB1100AH. We need high up time and 0% packet loss. The CCR is fine, but has packet loss over time. That's our main concern as it's very noticeable for the hosting we are doing. I Should prob...

Hi Guys,

When a queue falls outside the time set, is it meant to go invalid? It works as intended, but I'm not sure if it's meant to show that or not.

Thanks.
