Different DNS to different Mac addresses

I have one LAN that shares a number of peripherals and internet connection. I want to route my known devices to do DNS lookups from one specific DNS server on the LAN. I want visitors to be given the default DNS via the GW, which is a Mikrotik device. I can do this with fixed IPs, but I want to have...

DHCP Option 6 for some MACs only

Hi, Still a relative newbie, I have a LAN with some DNS blocking being done by another device. I want visitors who access my LAN to get an external or my gateway to do the DNS lookups, so they don't get blocked on any site they access. How can I tie a MAC address so that a certain list goes to my in...

Re: Feature request - DNSCrypt support...

I'm using dnscrypt via a raspberry in combination with pi-hole and OpenDNS. Works perfectly for alle my internal clients and I dont have to use a dnscrypt proxy on every mashine. If anyone is interested in configuring it (especially as their are some compatibility tricks you have to be aware of) I ...

Re: Team/Bond Ports confusion

Hi Chris, Thank you very much for the information so far! That went a long way. Not quite there yet. I'm trying to get my head around the addressing for this port. The device is a PPOE router, with WiFI active. The NAS has two LAN ports which I have plugged into the routers Gigabit ports 4 and 5. Do...

Team/Bond Ports confusion

Hi, Still a bit of a newbie. I have a RB201 series router doing PPOE to ADSL modem, Wifi Access point, DHCP server etc. serving a LAN through another switch. I now have a two port NAS and I am not sure how to get maximum throughput from the NAS. In the Windows world, I guess they call it teaming, in...

Re: How to appear as blackhole on internet on PPOE

Thank you very much for the prompt reply! I realise you can't hide, but if you don't make ports obvious, I would imagine you are reducing the interest. I am trying to learn from this. Your script has a couple of errors add chain=input action=icmp action=accept syntax error (line 1 column 24) add cha...

How to appear as blackhole on internet on PPOE

I have a PPOE internet connection. I have written several rules to drop packets when aimed at port 21, 22, 80, 443, 8291 TCP etc. They remain unresponsive, yet when I do an nmap from another host the ports are listed as 'filtered' and they all get listed. I would rather nothing showed. Any ideas? ch...

Re: How to add 3G device to RB715U

Replying to self,

A savvy reseller advised me, it's probably detecting an LTE device. How is an LTE device different from a 3G device at the interface level?

For the record, answer is

/port firmware set ignore-directip-modem=yes
/system reboot

Now to get failover to work..

How to add 3G device to RB715U

I'm just a beginner, please be kind. I am not new to Networking, but this product is something different to what I'm used to. I have a supported 3G device, Sierra 312U. I plug it into the Routerboard, I can scan for GSM network, comes up fine. I have been trying to set it up so I can talk to it and ...
