PAP is not for secure wireless. For hotspot, CHAP is better. But for really secured wireless service, WPA or WPA2 with 802.1x authentication is much better. I believe Mikrotik can do this. It requires some configurations on radius server that allow this type of authentication, such as certificate ge...

For Virtual AP, Each SSID should be able to pass to RADIUS per Congdon, right?

The question is still not answered.

Is overclocking the Mikrotik to 399 MHz recommended?

~20,000 m^2 hotpsot coverage using WDS

Hi, All: I have a camping ground that I want to provide broadband internet access. First of all, I want to determine how many APs do I need. I know it depends on many factors such as radio cards and antenna. Any guideline for calculating this? The radio cards I am considering is either CM9 or SR bas...

Hi, firebat: If I trunk the two network traffic through ether3 with certain bandwidth, and I want to split the total bandwidth between two networks, i.e. 50% of bandwidth is allocated for one network, and the other 50% for the other network. How do I accomplish the bandwidth spliting for trunked two...

uldis, 19+5= 24 dBm, but for which data rate? You know for SR5, the maximum power is different for each rate. For example, in spec 24 dBm is 36 Mbps. If tx-power=19 is used for 54Mbps, adding 5 dBm more, the final tx-power is larger than 21 dBm according to the spec for 54Mbps rate. Please elaborate...

For SR5 card, I have observed the similar reading.

~20 dBm for 54 Mbps. However, 'interface wireless monitor' shows only 13 dBm for 54 Mbps. Why is the difference?

I have studied the Transparent Traffic Shaper (TTS) on wiki. A few questions come up. Why prerouting chain is used instead of forward chain? Is it because of bridging? What kind of queue do you recommend for TTS? Can I implement PCQ in TTS? I believe queue tree can't be implemented because the top-l...

Based on my calculation, 4 CM9s consumes less than 6 W. RB532 consumes 3 W maximum without extension cards. Assume the daughter board consumes little power (I don't know the exact number. Anyone?) A standard 12V, 1000mA power adapter is fine. However, if you use 4 SR2s, then the total power could be...
