Re: IPSEC behind CISCO Router

2 things: 1) NAT traversal MUST BE ON on both sides, otherwise it won't work. If remote side doesn't have it on - just don't bother, start setting up IPSEC on your Cisco. 2) I am a little rusty on Cisco's static NAT config, but it looks to me like you did a destination nat and not a source nat. I ca...

Re: IPSEC behind CISCO Router

For this to work, you need to do 2 things: 1) Set up static NAT entry on Cisco router to forward incoming UDP traffic with destination port 4500 to Mikrotik 2) Make sure that Nat-traversal is enabled in Mikrotik's IPSEC tunnel. Alternatively, you can do L2TP/IPSEC tunnel which usually plays nicer wi...

Re: Mikrotik vs Cisco advice

Comparing Mikrotik and Cisco is like comparing Chrysler 300 with Rolls-Royce Phantom. Clearly the 2nd one is way better, question is if it is feasible and affordable for you. Mikrotik's advantages: 1) Price 2) Very extensive scripting capabilities that allow you to get some extra functionality witho...

Re: EoIP tunnel and BPDUs

In case anybody cares: I did do some tests with x86 Mikrotiks. The BPDUs are properly transferred, but I needed to disable neighbor discovery on Mikrotiks in order for my Cisco switches to properly see each other and join the MST domain. It also appears that the connection is extremely sensitive to ...

Re: My game doesn't work under RouterOS

I would suggest not to troubleshoot a game in general but rather to troubleshoot the way game communicates. So, here are the steps I would take: 1) Read the manual of the game to see what are its network requirements. 2) Run Wireshark or similar software and determine what's the difference in traffi...

EoIP tunnel and BPDUs

Hello, I have 2 buildings that are interconnected with the 2Gb wireless link, with mostly L2 traffic going across that link. I do want to add some redundancy to that connection, but unfortunately it is not financially feasible to lease a fiber between these 2 buildings. So I was thinking to get an i...

Re: User with default Safe Mode

Any news on this feature? This is probably one of main features that prohibits me from considering Mikrotik devices for any kind of serious production usage (yes, I am spoiled by Juniper's commit confirmed that saved my ass a couple of times). Let me explain why - when you are rested and your brain ...
