Router Unreachable in Sextant 5G

Just when I started to have some throughput I tried to reconnect to one end using WinBox and got a "Router Unreachable" error. The strange thing about it is WinBox is correctly identifying the router by name and MAC address. I have tried to ping the router by the standard ip address 192.16...

Re: Sextant Routerboard Upgrade Question

I thought the directions were very clear... drag the package contents into the "FILE" area and the upgrade should begin. As luck has it this didn't work for me. The package contents are still just sitting there in the FILE area and the Sextant has not budged. I was very careful not to pull...

Re: Sextant Routerboard Upgrade Question

I saw the same thing, so is there a handy set of directions to upgrade this beast?? I d/l ed version 6.7 from the web site and ended up with a file named "routeros-mipsbe-6.7.npk". How do I get it to upload to the routerboard? I feel like I am missing a step or two. Thanks!!

Re: What does NF and SNR actually report?

If you turn both connected ends off does the monitor unit still report -96? Also, is the test radio on the same frequency as the connected pair? My best guess based on standard practice in microwave is that MT measures the NF at the frequency of operation vs measuring it across the entire band which...

A Water Tight Sextant

After taking a good look at our Sextant 5G units I have reservations about putting them on 150 foot towers without making a few mods for waterproofing. The first problem I noticed is the mating point around the circumference of the dish. To make this connecting point water tight, or at least resista...

Re: Interferance Issue Spectral Scan

Do you have access to a portable Spectrum Analyzer like the Anritsu 2700 series? I hate to be the bearer of bad news but this will probably require shutting your system down so that you can discriminate the interference from the desired signals. Once you "see" the interfering signals on a ...

Re: 54 Km 5Ghz link

I asked a similar question in another thread and received the answer "it is too far". You mentioned that you want to use an external antenna; I think under these circumstances an external antenna would be required, the more gain the better. I would also suggest either running the path on &...

Re: Link Distance

For all who are following and interested, I did get an answer back from Support... RouterBoard products will go into the 4.2 to 4.9 Ghz Public Safety Band in the U.S. with a specific license to unlock that band. This was great news because there is much less interference down there for critical Publ...

Re: Link Distance

Thanks Troy, I am grasping at straws... calling in favors and going places I have never gone before to find a product that will do this. I hope they don't blame me, I'm just the engineer :D As such I will ride this train right over the edge. Kudos and Karma for the advice!

Re: Link Distance

Thanks for the interest Jimmy, I'm afraid that our path is just too long at 37 km. Someone who had this project before I got it thought that this was going to work and we bought the units. I just sent an e-mail to Support asking what product we should have bought. I am also very interested in a radi...

Re: Link Distance

Thank You so much MicroTic Support! Needless to say we are less than happy, happy, happy to learn that we apparently purchased the wrong wireless router set for our application. I wish I had been involved in this earlier in the process. Does MicroTic manufacture a wireless gigabit router that will m...

Re: Solving 20km wireless link issues

I completely agree with Steve Loomis, you have ignored what RadioMobile is telling you about the path; that it is impeded in the first and second fresnel and I could not tell for sure but may be more than that. Increase your height, clear at least your second fresnel and I would be dollars to doughn...

Re: Link Distance

Thank You Serge, that tool would work very well if the receiver sensitivity and transmitter power were known. I have not been able to find in the manual where those specs are listed. I have read on the wiki where users are deploying the Sextant 5G over 60+ km hauls... and it is working! How is this ...

Antenna Pointing with SXT 5G

:D Hi All, I have a new Sextant 5G ready to go into service. Once tower leg mounted and connections are complete to the building I need to begin the task of getting the two antennas on target with each other. Is there a tool included to help with this? What is the best method you have found? Much Th...
