Re: UserManager - Hotspot binding client to AP's MAC address

Hi, I would have a look into normal traffic packets with Wireshark. (simple start the sniffer on your Mikrotik, let it write to a file on the Mikrotik and then copy this file to your PC and open it with Wireshark. Look what MAC addresses are in e.g. HTML traffic) Also, the DHCP packets contain the M...

Hi,

is there a dude package RB433UL ROS v6.39.2

Hi, I couldnt find a clear answer on my question, that is: Can I use Dude on a RB433UL ROS v6.39.2 ? There is no package included in the extra packages. Is there one planed in the future? Only I have found that others are still using the dude-3.6 package. Is it advisable to install it? What can happ...

Re: public or campsite or marina wifi APs or hide many devices behind one MAC

the two WiFi cards are in different networks and there is NAT masq in between them. They are not on a bridge. I tried the following. I gave an ethernet port the same MAC as my cell phone trying to connect to wlan2. Funny enough there was no problem. I updated to the latest routeros v6.39.2. and trie...

Re: public or campsite or marina wifi APs or hide many devices behind one MAC

Ya, thanks, problem would be solved if I would use 2 Mikrotiks and connect them via Ehternet. It seems there is no way to change the MAC of an iPhone or Android if they are not rooted. The weird thing is that the device with the same MAC as the other wlan card gets connected for a split second and t...

public or campsite or marina wifi APs or hide many devices behind one MAC

Hi there, at many e.g. campsites or marinas or probably other places, you can have free wifi access for only one device. That's not enough usually. So my solution is that I use a Mikrotik with 2 wlan cards. With one interface I connect to the public wifi AP and with the second I make my own network....

automaitic failover, multiple ISPs / gateways

You have N gateways / ISPs and you want to use them all but your ISPs are not reliable and connections go down from time to time? Then the following script might help or inspire you. Some requirements and assumptions: The IP address for the WAN interfaces must be static. If it is set by DHCP an dyna...

hotspot field in firewall filter rules

Dear All, can somebody explain what is the hotspot field for firewall filter rules? what is auth | from-client | http | local-dst | to-client ? I mean where are these values set? by the hotspot module? or are these markers? Where are this decisions made if auth=true or if from-client, ...? Before a ...

Re: IP firewall is bypassed when source is 0.0.0.0

related to the post above: it gets even more interesting. If you create a rule that logs packets from Winbox to the router on the INPUT chain (protocol UDP and dst port 20561) you see the log count running. If you then try to drop these packets with the same rule then you see the packet counter of t...

IP firewall is bypassed when source is 0.0.0.0

if this is for some reason intentionally then that is not documented, which it should be . Packets with a source IP address 0.0.0.0 bypass the IP firewall but it can be seen (and filtered) in the Bridge firewall When does this happen for example: - DHCP negotiations - MikrotTik MAC-Telnet between Wi...
