Re: Moisture in outdoor enclosure

Thanks for all the excellent suggestions. I attempted to order the Di-electric silicone from BOSS products but they have discontinued it. Does anyone know of a similar alternative?

Moisture in outdoor enclosure

I am using external enclosures for my RB532's that I purchased from Wisp-Router. See the link below: http://www.wisp-router.com/itemdesc.asp?ic=DCE%2DCaseKitRJ45&eq=&Tp= I'm using the RJ45 pass throughs and am having a problem with water condensation building up inside the pass through and c...

Re: VOIP limits

So it looks like the 8000pps ceiling is really a limitation of the Routerboard itself, not the wireless card. I'd be curious to see how a decent x86 box would do.

Not to add fuel to the fire or anything, but it seems pretty obvious that an antenna will amplify whatever signal is sent to it. Since no radio is perfect they all transmit a small bit of noise (some more than others lol) and in turn the antenna will amplify both the carrier signal (the part you wan...

I run SR5's mounted in RB532A's in low temp conditions with no problems. Coldest temps around -30F and sometimes staying below 0F for several days at a time. We have them installed in small metal sealed enclosures that are not heated. I haven't measured the temps but I suspect the circuit boards ins...

Oh I get it now ccrum you wanted to use each of the radio links in half-duplex mode so that together using nstreme you have full-duplex operation over one antenna. It must be like you were saying then that the radios have some handshaking to do with eachother. For the best nstreme performance using ...

jo2jo - This picture is from the website linked above: http://www.hyperlinktech.com/web/copyrighted_images/diplexer_diagram.gif I have no experience with this diplexer, or any diplexer for that matter, but from the above picture it would seem that one could use two radios transmitting at different f...

Good point, it may not fit inside the rootenna along with your other hardware.

I dont see the need for a combiner though as the diplexer will take inputs from two different radios and pass them through to the antenna on one coax cable, unless I am missing something.

My guess is you probably could run both freqs at the same time on one antenna. The diplexer is cheap so would be a cool experiment to try. Now I just have to figure out how to convince my boss to let me order more parts...

I have 3 RB532a's in operation here in Western Wisconsin and they performed flawlessly with nightly temps ranging from 0c to -20c, and occasinally dipping down to -30c during the coldest times of the winter.

I've been wondering if this is an interference issue as the wireless links are otherwise rock solid. I'm actually quite impressed with the stability of these links especially for the low cost. I didn't think about the fact that most cell providers around here do have free minutes starting at 9pm so ...

All wireless interfaces already have Periodic Calibration set to Enabled but thank you for the reply. I have enabled watchdog on the routers so they will reboot if the link they are watching goes down. I have also setup all 3 Mikrotik routers in my network to log events to a syslog server as csickle...

Syslog server, good idea! Thanks :D It went down again at 21:00:38 on March 23 with the same log entries as before. Both routers are on battery backup and the logs don't indicate loss of power, so I'm at a loss to explain why this is happening. I'm going to contact Mikrotik about this to see if they...

I tried watchdog but found that if a ping fails for more than one minute it reboots the router and I lose the log info that tells me what happened. Is there a way to save the RouterOS log when the router reboots? I did setup a ping session using Robotest which will ping each of the 3 routers every 5...

Wireless disconnects at 9pm?

For some reason one of my wireless backbone links sporadically disconnects at 9pm. It will stay up solid for 3-4 days and then will drop at 9pm. The log on one end of the link says disconnected due to extensive data loss and the other end says no beacon. Both ends are Routerboard 532A's using Ubiqui...

Thanks for the quick reply :) So the radio at the relay site will be configred as the AP? The RB532's are on backorder so I can't play around with them right now :( but the example you gave me seems easy enough to implement.

Need some help configuring relay link

Through the advice of various forum's and web sites I eventually came to the conclusion that MikroTik would provide the best solution ...
