Re: VPN Problems

snipped I was aiming mesh topology and star topology (using VPN server) as backup. Now this is for the star topology. Sorry for not updating this thread, but this is what I do to make it work: 1. Setup PPTPD server on Linux VPS/Server 2. enter client username password and give static IP on chap-sec...

Dual ISP Bonding

I recently installed second ISP line, both are the same speed, 512Kbps/256Kbps. I already tried to do PCC Load Balancing, and it is just good enough, for download using IDM and torrent. I know to achieve full speed (1Mbps), I need to bond the Internet connection using remote server that has double m...

Re: Prevent IPTV Multicast Flooding

You can mix them, they just will not care about VLANs, so that is an expected behavior: multicast flooding on all ports... The problem is, wireless client is also being flooded with the multicast. Is there anyway to do IGMP proxy to prevent this? I have an idea like using pptp tunnel to isolate net...

Prevent IPTV Multicast Flooding

Hi, I recently just bought a RB260GS, so that my IPTV box can be placed anywhere in the local network. Here are the current network diagram and configuration. http://i.imgur.com/rQRgwFnl.png http://i.imgur.com/63Fy4gMl.png The main problem is, every client is flooded with IPTV multicast, even though...

Re: Is this possible?

Yes, its all easily possible with MikroTik, but if you dont have networking skills, its not gonna be an easy setup. You will have to use a combination of vlans, bridging proper vlans and ports and virtualAPs to proper subnets, firewall and possibly routing. You can try reading up on those things, b...

Re: ADSL Bridge Mode Issues

Probably your modem configuration is wrong. Do you check the VPI and VCI config for bridge mode on your modem? Personally, I prefer router mode for the ADSL modem because I can see the ADSL link status from the network. Frequently, I need to check the Line attenuation, SNR margin, etc that only avai...

Re: Is this possible?

Yes, its possible, simply NAT those other routers, or setup proper routing between the main router and the rest. http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Simple_Static_Routing http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Simple_Static_Routes_Example From what I understand, both of the links describe about connectivit...

Re: Is this possible?

Anyone?

I am starting to think it is possible using some tunneling interface such as PPTP, but I don't think it will be efficient. I still want good performance since I am running wired network. My mikrotik server is only RB951G, that I don't believe can handle many PPTP connection.

Re: VPN Problems

try doing a traceroute form the mikrotik, server and also client. That might show you where the packets stop. From Server: Mikrotik (10.201.0.101): Traceroute failed (* * *), but ping ok, however i got the ip from the public IP (internet IP) of the mikrotik, not 10.201.0.101 Client (10.201.0.102): ...

Re: VPN Problems

Forwarding has to be enabled on the server between client interface and MT VPN interface. Maybe you have some firewall forward rules on your server preventing the reply from MT to reach the clients... First, isolate the problem: Run a trace on the server to see if replies come from MT. Or at least ...

Re: VPN Problems

If I read this correctly you say that you cannot ping or communicate with the mikrotik? I see in your firewall rules that you drop "in-interface=ether1" and "in-interface=konata-pptp". Have you tried disable those rules? I tried to disable both of the drop rules, but other clien...

Re: VPN Problems

You probably forget to set the routes in mikrotik to be able to reach the networks behind the PPTP server. Check the routes. Or you did so but the routes could be somehow invalid. Also firewall rules can block the communication. Here are the routes regarding PPTP connection http://i.imgur.com/NlES6...

VPN Problems

Hi, I have set up a very simple PPTP server on my VPS (CentOS 6.5 32bit 512MB) based on this https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-setup-your-own-vpn-with-pptp (I am new to Linux environment). I tried using Mac, Windows, Android, and Mikrotik and all can connect successfully. Howev...
