Re: lost admin password

Thanks for the response. I downloaded the files, next I need to install python on my win7 box. I've never used python before, so many things to learn, so little time.

I will advise as to the progress.

Re: lost admin password

I don't check this forum often, I just assumed it would send me a message when there was a response, well, it didn't. Yes, I was laxed, have not updated the firmware, so I probably have that vulnerability. What I don't have is the "tool" that would allow me to access the database file. Whe...

lost admin password

Through the years, I never put a password on the admin acct. I have been able to log in via the web to my ip address and was able to use winbox. I needed to look at some settings, tried to get in, and it wants a password, which I never gave it one. I don't know if somebody got into the system and se...

Re: difficulty in changing the DHCP subnet

I realize what I'm asking for is very basic and almost seems like a silly problem. I also realize there are a number of ways to enter in settings. To use a graphical interface, I've been using WinBox, but is that the best way to perform the settings you have suggested, or is it better to do it via a...

difficulty in changing the DHCP subnet

I am trying to change the default network 192.168.88.1 to 192.168.1.1 and want to change the DHCP range from the default to 192.168.10 - 192.168.1.199. I understand there are five items to change, using WinBox, I have changed the LAN IP address from 192.168.88.1 to 192.168.1.1. I have left the netma...

Re: DNS server

I'm assuming your users are using windoze. If so, I think there is a setting you can get to via group policies. You can remove a lot of stuff to lock down a system that way. I can't give specifics, been a long time since I retired, don't do that stuff like I used to, I forget some of the procedures,...

Re: simple types CPE/WISP/PTP Bridge

Thank you, that's a start, at least now I know what the nomenclature means. Is there a basic tutorial somewhere on how to use the setting in winbox? Is it preferred not to use the quick settings? Is it better to go to the individual settings? I've locked myself out several times where I couldn't get...

Re: simple types CPE/WISP/PTP Bridge

Don't feel silly, I'm new to MikroTik too, I'm also confused by the terms, been working on computers and networks for many years but haven't heard these terms, I'm looking for answers too.
