CAPsMAN working for days, then reconnectes after keepalive timeout in second intervals for hours, then all fine again.

Hi everyone, I experience this for a long time now, not being able to find out what it is. I have a CAP deployment with around 15 CAPs, uplink via DSL over PPPOE(change MSS is set...). RouterOS 6.40.4. The network is up and fast for days, then all of a sudden I get a call that the SSIDs do not show ...

CapsMan CAPs break-down once in a while

Hi everyone, I've been having regular calls from users that their CAPs have gone down. When I check in CapsMan/Interface, the broken CAPs don't show a L2 MTU anymore. The "broken" CAPs don't send out beacons anymore, established links break down. When you log-in, they show the normal "...

2,4Ghz or 5 Ghz? 1km PtP without direct line of sight in urban area.

Hi there, I want to deploy a PtP link in Berlin, going from the roof of a building to a 1km distant station on the ground. There are 2 Houses in the way. Now I'm thinking of trying it with two SXTG-2HnD because of their 32dbm power and better wall penetration of 2,4Ghz. But the Band is pretty jammed...

Help! CAPs stop sending beacons and clients cannot associate anymore

Hi, I've been using CAPsMAN for almost 3 years now without major issues. Now the interfaces kindof "get stuck" from time to time, meaning that clients get disconnected and cannot see the SSIDs anymore. Then I remove the interfaces in CAPsMAN and Provision again and it's running again. This...

Re: PPPOE problems

Rowan! That's it! I was stuck for hours, sometimes it conntected for a second and then told me "terminating... hung up". The thing was it was working like that for the last year, and now, after a reboot, I couldn't get it working again. Completely forgot there was a DHCP client on my PPOE ...

Re: DHCP Requests not "forwarded"

Ok, that sounds very reasonable... Thanks for the enlightening this matter... I was just wondering because I had also other MikroTik APs behind the bridge (so there were not directly associated as well) and the DHCP client worked perfectly there. But as you said, probably you will encounter >some< p...

Re: DHCP Requests not "forwarded"

The drop rule was some left-over from the default config, but as you can see in the config, it's not active. And as I am connecting to a FritzBox I cannot use station bridge, because it's MikroTik specific ( http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Wireless_Station_Modes ). So, my question is: Do I real...

DHCP Requests not "forwarded"

Hi, I am playing aroung with a new deployment and stumbled upon following (rather basic) problem: I configured a SXT2 as Station, connecting to an AP(FritzBox)=DHCP Server. I set up a DHCP Client on the SXT, works perfectly. But as I connect via Ethernet to the SXT with my laptop, I cannot get a DHC...

External USB-HDD Idle-spin-down?

Hi,

I was wondering if there was any possibility to enable some "spin-down external harddrive on idle" functionality.
I am using the external hdd on a 951G-HnD as backup nas, but i think it's not very healthy if the disks(consumer-grade) are running all the time...

Robert

Re: RB260GSP - POE AUTO with RB450G - a small little test

Hi, i am using Ubiquiti equipment right now and i am not satisfied at all. I would like to completely switch to MiktoTik, but: The RB260GSP has a specified 500mA max. power per port. That would be 6W. I would like to connect 4 SXT2GHnD to it, which are specified max 7W consumption. The Ubiquity Toug...
