Management Frame Protection

[EDIT] After posting the question below, I was doing more research, and as it turns out Management Frame Protection is not supported when the OTA Protocol is set to NV2. Please disregard the below question. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi there... A client...

Re: system/logging Confusion...

(EDIT TO Q2)... Q2: Are there log messages, let's use wireless as an example, that have no other additional 'topic' attached to it other than the wireless topic? ..or does *every* log messages contain one (or more) of the (7) 'Facility Independent topics' *and* may also have a facility-specific tag?...

system/logging Confusion...

These are called "List of Facility independent topics"... critical error info warning *debug *packet *raw (*I've not used these.) And the rest, also called 'topics', but specifically, 'Topics used by various RouterOS facilities'... ...like: ipsec, firewall, dhcp, wireless Without specifica...

Default-forwarding (Whitepaper or actual details)

As the subject says...I'm looking for some detailed info on the WLAN setting, DEFAULT-FORWARDING. All of the info I've found so far tells me that it prevents direct "client-to-client" (layer2) communications for clients that are connected to the same WLAN interface. My question is, HOW doe...

Swapped chains from AP to CL

I'm doing some throughput testing with RB922 5Ghz radio cards, using 80-mhz wide channels. Looking for lab-level performance, I am working with full enclosures, and using coax and attenuators between the AP and CL. The combined RSSI is in the low to mid -40's. The on-board radios got me 530-550mbps ...

RSTP Constant logging?

Hi, I've got a Mikrotik switch, 960PGS, in my engineering lab using ROS 6.44.6. I do radio testing work, and often configure and reconfigure this network. Something I just noticed, is that there is a log entry every minute... Aug/20/2021 13:55:14 interface, warning ether3: bridge port received packet...

Windows btest.exe super-duper slow

Has anyone successfully used the latest Windows btest software?

Running the PC version - to radio, over ethernet only, I get a max of 20kbps

Running the PC version, to another PC with the same btest s/w on it, gives me 1200bps.

Re: Wireless signal strength vs. Noise floor threshold

Has this topic got any action lately? I've recently been doing some testing with this parameter using the 5GHz RB912 bd. The question I posed to Mikrotik that was never answered, was "what is the numerical setting of 'default' ". Above, it's mentioned several times that the default setting...

Error handling?

I've got system out there at a couple different f/w levels. At some point in the f/w development cycle, MT added error handling to scripting. Also, at some point, under /system ntp client the mode setting had been removed. When it was initially removed, mode would still show up as a possible choice ...

Re: Untagged VLAN Bridge CISCO

Are you confusing IP subnet, and VLANs?

A VLAN has no relation to an IP address or IP subnet...it has no "address" as you stated below.

New LED control is.....uh.........

.....one of the dumbest changes ever to Mikrotik ROS.... In revisiting using the LEDs on a radio card....411AH, 912, 435 boards....to indicate RSSI and link status, I was completely blown away when I tried to use a script I was using with ROS < 6.18, that I had to completely rewrite it to deal with ...

Re: get supported-bands not working in 6.33

You can use "hw-info" to see all possible bands, channel widths, and frequency ranges of device: :put [interface wireless info hw-info wlan1] We've just upgraded from 6.11 to 6.3x.x and this change is bad. Listing "allowed channels" doesn't list all the possible channels. It lis...

Re: Issue - hEX lite (RB750r2) : "Files" stored on device flash are erased during "Reset Configuration"

This is a pretty lame change.

Log files are also kept in the root of wherever 'files' now points to, so, if yo save logs 'to file' those too are gone with a power cycle.

5.8Ghz FCC Channels

Hi there....I've been scouring the web left and right trying to find out an answer to my question and posting here is potentially my last resort. I was recently told that the FCC limits the use of channels in the 5.8 ghz band to the previously defined 20mhz wide channel centers of ch149/5745mhz, ch1...
