Can't change a CRS309-1G-8S+IN to SwOS

As this device boots *very* slow into RouterOS and I do not need any feature beyond switching I would like to run the devise with SwOS. But unfortunately I am too stupid to flip the boot switch: [admin@MikroTik] > /system/routerboard/settings/set boot-os=swos failure: not allowed by device-mode SwOS...

Re: CRS310-8G+2S+IN Swos SFP+ Issue

I opened a ticket for the same issue. Support responded within 12 hours with a link to download a beta version of SwOs firmware 2.17. They said it would be released publically soon. I downloaded and installed it and my SFP+ ports now work in SwOs! Fan is wicked loud. Fortunately, I have a Noctua NF...

Re: SwOS version 2.16 released!

It automagically was fixed on my switch ;-) ... today it showed 2.16 rather than 2.17rc2 as latest avail version, and I upgraded from 2.13 w/o problems.
Today i freshly installed 2.16 and unfortunately the SFP+ ports of the CRS310-8G+2S+-IN don't work.

Re: SwOS version 2.16 released!

I am confused by this update: See attached what the SwOS UI of a CRS354-48G-4S+2Q+ shows: System is up to date with 2.13, but also the Changelog of 2.16 is shown. Also 2.17rc2 is listed as the latest available version. If I click on download and upgrade, I get "ERROR: Could not retrieve firmwa...

Availability of CRS305-1G-4S+IN

Short question: Is there any idea when the mentioned device will be available again? Beside some stores that offer them at horrific prices ther seems to be no stock.

Regards

No SwOS for CRS310-8G+2S+ ?

Hello, after unpacking I immideately changed the default OS to SwOS but the switch did not boot up. So i went back to RouterOS (using Reset Button) and ran /system/swos/upgrade to upgrade to the latest SwOS. version: 2.17 status: ERROR: file not found was the response. So my question: Does a SwOS fo...

Re: Feature request: SwOS Increase SNMP Location Field Length

I would really appreciate this!

An Adress like
Musterstr. 123, 01234 Musterstadt, Germany
(42 chars)

should be the absolut minimum requirement. So please enhance the length to e.g. 64 chars.

Re: CAPSMAN with WifiWave2 does not work as intended

Everything learned for RouterOS 6.x Wireless should be reserved for RouterOS 6 devices alone. RouterOS 7.x Wifiwave2 driver is chip vendor code and many ROS 6 features couldn't be fit in. Study Wifiwave2 documentation like fresh novice student as that is how this field plays. As it happens to be......

Re: CAPSMAN with WifiWave2 does not work as intended

Why do you add interfaces manually on capsman controller ?
It wasn't needed on old capsman, it isn't in example either.

Provisioning will do that.
I did *not* add them. It happened automatically.

Re: CAPSMAN with WifiWave2 does not work as intended

Study Wifiwave2 documentation like fresh novice student as that is how this field plays. I wish that there would exist a real documentation. There are two examples regarding capsman. one that even does not have a data path set up - meaning that there is no idea to what the wifi is connected, and th...

CAPSMAN with WifiWave2 does not work as intended

Hey, After years of a happy life with a CAPSMAN installation I was confronted with the necessity to learn more about Wifiwave2: Our next office should have AX wifi, of course from MikroTik again... but I am struggeling with the config: Before I set up datapaths, configs and security on the central C...

Re: Using L009 as room switches

My biggest concern is that putting an AP in each room can crowd the WiFi spectrum if not carefully balanced. Each radio is liable see 4 or more others nearby in an office grid, but you’ve only got 3 real channels in the 2.4GHz range. You're right. I did not intend to activate WiFi in each room but ...

Using L009 as room switches

Hello, for my new 10-room-office I have the challenge that there is almost no space for network cables. So building up a classical copper network with thick trunks of cables is barely possible. I need 3-6 LAN ports per room. That popped up the idea of building an FTTR (Fiber to the room) network nee...

I personally hope that MQTT (from the KNOT) finds entry into every MikroTik device. There are so many things this would be useful for.

As every time after upgrade I sent the mipsbe and arm firmware files for the CAPs to my CCR1009 CAPSMAN. Re: v6.38 [current] is released!

Strange Bug: After upgrading my CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+ from 6.37.3 to 6.38 the exported config mixed up the interface IDs: /interface ethernet set [ find default-name=ether 5 ] l2mtu=1520 name=ether 1 -kbd set [ find default-name=ether6 ] l2mtu=1520 name=ether2 set [ find default-name=ether7 ] l2mtu=1520...

CAP upgrade policy with mixed HW platforms

Hello, after almost completing my automated mass-upgrade-script for keeping routerOS on my central router and a whole bunch of CAPs up to date i discoverd the "upgrade policy" switch that does all the work. Almost: Most devices (as the Capsman) are mipsbe machines. But for example the hAP ...

winbox.exe went from 125KB to 1620KB so I can understand that. not so easy to understand why it increased so much in size... I guess they changes the core of WinBox architechture. WinBox used to download (and cache) a set of DLLs from the router on connect, one DLL per RouterOS package (i.e. system...

Is the 404 on http://{routerip}/winbox/winbox.exe a bug or a feature?

Together with the incompatibility of the v3 betas of Winbox this really sucks.

VPN Connection from Fritz!Box 7490 to Mikrotik Router

Hi folks, I want to connect an employees home router (Fritz!Box 7490) to our central company router but unfortunately the Router's config page is not very self-explaining on WHAT exact method of VPN (L2TP / PPP / IPsec) in what detailed sub-configuration is used for this particular connection.
