Re: cannot manage switch

What interface by default has the IP address assigned to it? ie. should the ip always reside on ether-1 or should it reside on the uplink? what's the best practice for this?

Re: cannot manage switch

thanks for the reply's.. there has to be a mechanism to allow this. I've tried mac telnet from the neighbour, resetting the switch and trying again, regular telnet, http, winbox, ssh etc. How can you console into this device? or other such method, it's working as expected however I cannot manage the...

cannot manage switch

Hello, I have a ccs that I'm trying to connect to by any means, the device is not directly accessible via ethernet. I've tried ssh / telnet / ftp (not that this would help), web, and the desktop app. Nothing seams to be working to get access to this device and it would appear as though it's not ther...

Re: inner-VLAN Latency

I have tested a few things regarding this and had contact from Mikrotik Support, hopefully they will be able to assist in resolving this as it's difficult to see network improvements at this rate of transfer. I did modify the switch configuration for the CRS226-24G-2S+ /system resource irq rps set [...

Re: inner-VLAN Latency

I have tested this by ensuring that the switch ports were bypassed on the router, the trunk port on this device is set to port 8. However, I moved the NAS up this device onto port 5 and tested again, the speeds were slightly better, but nothing significant rsync -av speedtest/100mb-dummy.test /mnt/t...

Re: inner-VLAN Latency

I have noted a few things regarding the configuration of this: 1. the switch tagging(on the underlying device, a mikrotik CCS) was set up individually for tagging ie. one line per tag These can be grouped.. should they be? ie. 10 X ports=ether3 service-vlan-format=any customer-vlan-format=any custom...

Re: inner-VLAN Latency

I didn't spend too much time looking through that config, but you're likely spending way too much time trying to classify traffic with layer-7 filters -- they are expensive in CPU time. Have you tried disabling all your filters and mangles so that you're merely routing between subnets in the most s...

Re: ARP entries not populated

FYI: I didn't change the system at this point but a controlled reset was performed. At which point the arp entries did start to populate.

inner-VLAN Latency

the purpose here is to improve the read/write to a QNAP NAS that was recently installed. It is on VLAN 24, users are coming from either wired[VLAN 20] or wireless[VLAN10] with the respective ip pools set as 192.168.<<VLAN-ID>>.0 The current problem: # Traffic to our mail server is extremely slow, qu...

Re: ARP entries not populated

I get that it doesn't have to. that is very evident based on that it is working. However the question arises why does it not record said information as I have stated it to do?

is there a way to get this to start working?

Re: Layer 7 protocols not working

revival of a dead thread. I have blocked FB via a drop rule in the forward chain as FB does not play as well as I had hoped with layer 7 packet matching and blocks other sites required for business here. I have added an exception for my machine at the top of the chain. chain=forward action=accept pr...

ARP entries not populated

My current config is such that I have CCR / \ CRS DLINK / UNMANAGED I have the ccr set with ports 7 and 8 to be trunk ports. The DLINK(managed switch) populates the arp entries just fine. However the CRS only shows two entries in the ARP [admin@Khaos] /ip arp> print Flags: X - disabled, I - invalid,...

Re: problems with generic configuration with dhcp

wish there was a 'marked as resolved' I did end up having to make some manual configuration changes, and the O/S required a restart on modification of the eth1 card in order to take effect. Afterwards it came up and I was able to continue on. But I did make the mistake of clicking 'submit' on the qu...
