CCR2004-1G-2XS-PCIe Feature Request

Got to start by saying I'm a huge fan of the CCR2004-1G-2XS-PCIe. When I've only got a single 1U space in colo, I can still rely on the confidence of a hardware firewall embedded into the server. It also gives the ability to ship a server out to a small remote office that automatically connects back...

Re: CCR2004-1G-2XS-PCIe SFP+ modules crash host system

Final update for the next poor unfortunate soul that find this due to the same issue. 7.15rc seems to have resolved my problem but getting this card to netinstall was more fiddly than I would have expected. First, read and re-read the netinstall instructions. If you are running on a Windows machine,...

Re: CCR2004-1G-2XS-PCIe SFP+ modules crash host system

I may have found the solution to my own problem.

*) sfp - improved system stability for CR2004-1G-2XS-PCIe (introduced in v7.14);

I'll try 7.15rc tonight. Hopefully it gets promoted to full release soon.

CCR2004-1G-2XS-PCIe SFP+ modules crash host system

I've been very happy with my CCR2004-1G-2XS-PCIe for the past year. I upgraded to ROS 7.14 and suddenly my host crashed and would not post with a NMI error. After much troubleshooting, I discovered the host system will boot and work fine as long as nothing is plugged into the SFP+ interfaces. Next, ...

NFS Client Help

Everyone seems excited that ROSE storage will allow you to use your MikroTik as a very basic NAS. This is nice, but I want to use it the other way. Many new models are coming out without USB and I'd like to run Dude, which is recommended to run on external storage so as not to wear out the internal ...

CCR2004-1G-2XS-PCIe Reset [SOLVED]

Just getting started with this toy and I didn't notice any reset button anywhere. How to I factory reset the card if I manage to accidentally firewall myself out of the router? Also (and unrelated), for future models, it would be nice if it also had a serial port somewhere. Maybe via internal header...

Re: RouterOS to SwOS vLAN Help

Thanks! The instructions helped, but in the end it turned out to be with how I was configuring an access port for management and inadvertently created a switching loop.

RouterOS to SwOS vLAN Help

I am trying to set up a CRS317-1G-16S+ as a core switch behind a RB2011UiAS. I'm replacing my current HP Procurve switch and want to minimize the changes necessary on my router. Right now, I'm just trying to get vLAN traffic passed through the switch. I have my router (ether 05) connect to the switc...

Re: CRS 317-1G-16S+ RouterOS or SwOS?

I tried to boot into SwOS and it never came back online; didn't even get the usual beeps. After a factory reset, I'm back in RouterOS. I've upgraded to 6.42rc39. I can't add a bond without removing the interfaces from the bridge but once I do, it shifts into 'Router' mode. Is there any documentation...

CRS 317-1G-16S+ RouterOS or SwOS?

I recently picked up a CRS 317-1G-16S+ to go behind my RB2011UiAS and connect a Synology RS3617xs to a few VMWare Hypervisors. I need to take advantage of LACP and vLAN tagging. My primary objective is throughput and fail-over. I don't strictly need the layer 3 features in the device, but it would b...

Re: Support for ACME/Let's Encrypt certificate management [SOLVED]

I've got a couple routers that I use LetsEncrypt certificates for SSTP. Since it took me a bit to figure out why things weren't working at first, I've included my tweaked scripts below. Additionally, I created a dedicated user on my Linux server for managing certificates and set it up to log into my...

Re: Emdeded Mikrotik?

Looks like Gigabyte thought of this about a decade ago. Apparently it didn't go over well for them 'cause they obviously didn't catch on. Still would like to see something similar with the power of a Mikrotik. You are right that ros isn't the mightiest firewall in the world but I still think there's...

Emdeded Mikrotik?

I got all excited when I first stumbled across the RB44Ge, thinking it was a full mikrotik router on a PCIe card. Have you ever considered making such a product? I can see it being useful for a number of applications to having an embedded hardware firewall in a desktop or server. In the desktop, the...
