Re: [SOLVED] Slow HTTP download

Wow... That's actually a terrible bug that the description totally minimizes the impact of. Thanks for sharing the solution.

Re: Slow HTTP download

I will repeat myself when I say you can play around at the application layer all day long but until you know whats going out the wire you are fumbling around in the dark. 5 minutes with Wireshark will be more informative then a whole day playing around with drivers and OS's. I will mention one setti...

Re: Does ROS support RFC 3580 ?

A quick search of the forums (since I am interested in this answer to) yields the following which seems to contain the info I need: http://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php?t=81881#p441938 http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:RADIUS_Client/vendor_dictionary When I get to work I may play with this usi...

Re: Slow HTTP download

This is a problem we can pontificate on forever (and I have a few ideas) but the quickest way and the absolute surest way to see what is going on is with a wireshark trace. Setup the trace as follows: *Filter on tcp 80, tcp 443, udp 53, icmp *Capture 256 bytes per packet (Header plus a little payloa...

Re: Backup/non authoritative DHCP server

For your question on interface the answer is whatever interface has the IP address. I am assuming everything can talk together so the interfaces are bridged together so just look at whatever interface has the IP address and use that. However for the rest of your question regarding DHCP redundancy it...

Re: WPA2 EAP, RADIUS and Userman.. Help required

That means the EAP client (the PC) is trying to communicate its credentials to the Mikrotik using an EAP algorithm the RB does not understand. What algorithms are available on the client depend on the client and what software may be installed. On Windows it is found on the Security tab in the WiFi c...

Re: Mikrotik router as dhcp + ap from another manufacturer + Active Directory - how to authenticate?

You need to setup Network Policy Server on a MS server in the domain to act as a RADIUS server. The Mikrotik is setup as a RADIUS client and passes all authentication/authorization attempt to this server(s) which verify the password (and possibly other things like group membership) and either permit...

Re: Newbie sanity check please

If you just want to link 2 places, use a pair of point-to-point devices and avoid omnidirectional antennas. My guess is a pair of SXT Lite5 ($59 each), you can even install those devices under the roofs or behind walls (you'll have to test it before, of course) Wow, I can got SXT Lite2's for $40 on...

Re: Mikrotik router as dhcp + ap from another manufacturer + Active Directory - how to authenticate?

Since this is what I do for a living I can help you.... The Mikrotik is a RADIUS client, not a server. Microsoft provides a RADIUS server, called Network Policy Server, with their server OS. Basically the Mikrotik needs configured as a RADIUS client to the MS NPS. The network policy server needs con...
