Re: hAP AC throughput

with the latest firmware, i seem to be getting 250mbps through a wall or two, and it seems to go up to maybe 300mbps before hitting 100cpu on the wap ac.
no local forwarding, just client forwarding enabled. somehow local fwd is not stable at all for me (or wasn't on prev versions)

Re: v6.39rc [release candidate] is released

My wap ac on rc72 seems to reset to default configuration on every reboot.
Anybody ran into this?

Re: wAP ac vs Unifi AC Pro / Lite

hi guys, in the end i went with a wap ac. here s what i found so far: - it covers all the dead sports in my house it seems, great coverage, doesn't look like i'm gonna be needing another ap - using capsman without local forwarding i seem to get up to 250mbps before the wap hits 100% cpu (ookla speed...

Re: wAP ac vs Unifi AC Pro / Lite

thank you very much, very useful coming from someone that can actually compare the two. do you think that the wall penetration and throughput of the uac are meaningful better in day to day use, or just as synthetic benchmarks? i guess there s the added point if capsman is worth it compared to the ni...

Re: wAP ac vs Unifi AC Pro / Lite

i guess the question would still be, for the main router at least, if to go with the WAP-AC or with the UAP-AC-Lite
quite a few posts mentioning the wifi capabilities of the ubnt devices compared to mikrotiks.... but most of the posts fairly old, maybe things changed

Re: wAP ac vs Unifi AC Pro / Lite

you are spot on here... i have a borrowed ac lite currently to play with and in a new position i found for it, i seem to have pretty good whole house 5ghz coverage with a bit spotty 2.4ghz, so supplementing in 2.4 if it gets to be a problem might be the way to go. also, regarding the acl, i just now...

Re: wAP ac vs Unifi AC Pro / Lite

i never had much luck with the roaming between lower powered devices... i probably did not manage to get the configuration working quite right i would consider going down the route of multiple lower powered ap's but quite afraid of the roaming bit. the only high throughput 5ghz device i have is my l...

Re: wAP ac vs Unifi AC Pro / Lite

i am very interested in this question as well...
need an AP to pair with my new RB3011 and these 2 seem to be the contenders
the hap ac lite does not seem to offer enough coverage/performance for the whole house so hopefully someone can provide some feedback on the two options above

cheers

Re: extending network range

hmm, they are a bit far and don t have another cable, can t run a new one either.
but 4 wires are unused... how bad would it be if i would split them into a double headed network cable monster ? :P

one s a hap, the other one is a RB951G-2HnD, the hap ac was too expensive for this

thanks again

Re: extending network range

@pukkita thank you very much, I could not have done it without you. after a lot of stumbling, and using the wine port of winbox Winbox4Mac (which for some reason likes to impose a specific configuration when it first connects) I think o have set it up as indicated by you. thanks again. i still can t...

Re: extending network range

so in the end i got a RB951G-2HnD (didn t know it had a buzzer, that s cool :P) set it up as main router, connecting to ISP, so far so good. now i ve got the following two issues: - i can t find a way to make it so i can connect on 40mhz channels, both chains are active, set 20/40 mhz channels, no g...

Re: extending network range

that s a very interesting idea with the script... if it s just two ssids, i have seen that phones/tablets like to cling onto the first they connected, even though there is a better AP around, so two separate aps won t really work without manual connection (which is a pain) but the script thing is re...

Re: extending network range

thanks guys for the info due to apparently some huge amount of metal in the iron slab between floors, signal is highly degraded, so i probably won t ever get away with just one router. thinking about it my connection from the isp is 200mbps through pppoe, so i would need a gigabit variant anyway in ...

Re: extending network range

thanks guys.

and hardware wise what do you think, go with another hap ac lite, or get something better to replace it as the first device, or maybe with one of the hot spot/access point offerings like cAP-2n, or maybe a RB951G-2HnD ... so many choices....

Re: extending network range

ah, cool, thanks for this. didn t imagine it would be that simple. but i assume in the described scenario i d have 2 routers dishing out ips and so on? is there some bridge setting that i need somewhere? so i would need another hap device then, worth waiting for hap ac (non lite) ? would there be an...
