Re: Support for PCI Express wireless adapters?

Thank you, but there are two problems (for me) with the IA/MP1E: 1) according to the RB11EmA.pdf spec file, this unit does not support USB connectivity, which I need for the 4G/WiMax wireless cards that I intend to use and 2) this unit does not install on a RouterBOARD since I don't know of any Rout...

Re: Support for PCI Express wireless adapters?

Bump... I need to connect mini-PCIe or half-mini-PCIe boards to a RouterBOARD running OpenWRT. The drivers are not a problem.... they are available for Linux 2.6 via mini-PCIe (USB). Any progress on RouterBOARDs with mini-PCIe on-board or perhaps a generic adapter that supports USB connectivity? Tha...

VLAN priority?

Hi. Is it possible to set the vlan priority on vlan interfaces? Doing some sniffing, I'm seeing that all packets that leave a vlan interface are tagged with priority 0, which is the lowest possible priority. I need to increase the priority to at least 5 in order to ensure QoS for my network. Thanks!...

Re: Some questions - bgp and routing

I mean that I have Pentium III 1.7 GHz machine with Mikrotik and whole BGP list is loaded about 30 minutes!!! Quagga on the same machine loads all prefixes in abount 30 seconds. Sorry, can't help you there. We only accept the default route from our upstream peers (one per city) and redistribute tha...

Re: Problems with MSN disconnecting

Are your customers using WinXP and 802.11 cards to connect to the wireless network? If so, once they are connected, disable WinXP's WZC (Wireless Zero Configuration). You can get a load of information on WinXP problems with WiFi connections with a search engine. We had to abondon PPPoE on our access...

Re: Advanced NAT problem - SMTP

If your spam server has an IP on your internal network where your mail server is, you don't need to route through the MikroTik. Just have the spam server deliverly locally to the mail server.

Re: Some questions - bgp and routing

Hi! I'll try to answer some of your questions below: - why bgp has so poor performance? What do you mean by "poor" performance? We're using BGP to our upstream providers without any issues (although we're only accepting the default route and not a full table). - why bgp does not see restar...

Re: PCQ Question

Is it doable if i want to get Mikrotik to limit like this p2p (limit at 128k) web (limit at 1Mb) other (limit at 1Mb) ----------------------- But total bandwith limit per IP connection is 1Mb disregard the total queue limit combined. Say if I have a pcq queue for p2p say 256k and for all other traf...

Re: btest

I´m a new kid on the block and would like to use btest to give my clients chance to test their bandwith when connected to PC Router by hotspot mode. In my tests it doesn´t work when hotspot server is running, and in UDP protocol it only work in one way not in both. Somebody has some experience abou...

Re: 2 ports on the same subnet. Possible?

Is it possible to configure Mikrotik in such a way that 2 ports of my Routerboard 532 are on the same subnet?
Sure!

Just bridge the two ports and assign the IP address(es) to the bridge interface.

VLAN switch with RouterBOARD?

Hi! (repost since I accidentally posted this to wireless networking yesterday and that's not the right place to put it *laugh*) I want to use a RouterBOARD 500, specifically the 534A, to make a small VLAN switch. I understand to tag ethernet frames, you bridge between an untagged port and a tagged p...

VLAN switch with RB534A?

Hi! I want to use a RouterBOARD 500, specifically the 534A, to make a small VLAN switch. I understand to tag ethernet frames, you bridge between an untagged port and a tagged port, but then how do I bridge the tagged frames into another bridge? I think this is what I would need to do. This is so I c...

PCI and PCI Express are not the same form factor and are not interchangable.

Sam
Doh!

Okay, is there a 2 or 4port ethernet card available for PCI Express that anyone is aware of? I cannot find one at CDW or Pricewatch and Google isn't returning much, either.

Thanks again!

RouterBOARD 44 + PCI-Express

Hi. I couldn't find anything in the forum seach, so hopefully someone can verify this for me. :D Will a RouterBOARD 44 work in a motherboard with a PCI-Express 16x slot? Forgive my failure, normis, but I cannot find the log posted by searching the forums for 'changelog' or 'change log'... all I can find is a link to the current changelog, which is only for the 2.9 series.

Proxy, would you mind posting the changelog you have for up to 2.8.27?

Thanks!

Changelog for 2.8.28

Does anyone have a copy of the Changelog for 2.8 which shows all of the changes up to and including 2.8.28? I thought the 2.8 changelog would be retained, but I cannot find it on the MikroTik website anywhere. I have a few RB230 units that are running 2.8.2x and would like to see if there is any mer...

CTS/RTS Threshold for Wireless interfaces

Hi! I'd like to suggest supporting a wireless CTS/RTS threshold setting. This is of great importance to those of us who have long distance outdoor links back to a single AP. It helps to reduce the impact of the "hidden node" problem if enabled on the client nodes which all connect to the s...

I'd also like to put my vote in for three BGP options becoming available as soon as possible: 1) BGP community support 2) BGP as-prepend support and 3) Being able to view the advertised routes like performing a 'bgp show peer-host x.x.x.x advertised-routes' on a Cabletron or 'show ip bgp neigher...
