Re: Creating a "Free" hotspot

Free HotSpot is possible not only with Trial. It is possible with regular HTTP and HTTPS, as login page can be modified and correct username/password are predefined at login page code. User connects to the Internet, advertisement information (login page) appears, user click on Login and use the Int...

Re: How to create a free hotspot?

As an alternative, you could use the MAC address and send it to a RADIUS server, which would register this as a new account and put it in the RADIUS database. But it sounds like your setup already works. I came with another alternative. In user profiles I put the following script in the "scrip...

Re: How to create a free hotspot?

Since this information about MAC addresses is stored in RAM, not database, it will clear after reboot.
Try to not reboot the router :)

Re: How to create a free hotspot?

Where would this data be sent and stored? You could probably make some kind of intermediary redirect, that submits your data, and then continues to log in via trial. OK. I did what you said. Now trial user is redirected to my custom login page and time limit is working fine, but the only problem is...

Re: How to create a free hotspot?

You could use the Trial function: http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:IP/Hotspot/Profile http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Trial_user_limits It would be the same, except your user will be identified by MAC, so limits will not be shared like you have now. Just rename "trial" option to ...

How to increase the address pool for a hotspot created on VLAN?

Currently I created a hotspot on VLAN10. The address pool for this is 192.168.10.2-192.168.10.254. How can I increase/add more address pool to this hotspot? For example if all IP addresses in the above range is occupied then new IP can be assigned from the pool 192.168.2.2-192.168.3.254 or 192.168.4...

Re: What Private Network IP Address should I asighn to the Internal LAN?

If you connect RB directly to ISP instead of Cisco, then of course it won't work without some config changes. Did you perhaps miss what I was trying to tell you? Once again, with the original setup you have two options (if you want to have separate subnet): a) On Cisco, add static route to 192.168....

Re: What Private Network IP Address should I asighn to the Internal LAN?

The most likely problem with this setup is missing route to 192.168.0.1/24 on Cisco router. You must tell it that it's behing 192.168.1.114, otherwise it has no idea where to find it and will try to reach it using default route, i.e. send packets to ISP and that's not where your 192.168.0.1/24 is. ...

Re: What Private Network IP Address should I asighn to the Internal LAN?

What is your reason for not using a default setup, i.e. port 1 connected towards internet and using the default
LAN address range of 192.168.88.1/24 ?

Purpose is to learn how to customize it.

Re: How many access points can be made with RB433AH?

It depends on what you're trying to do. If you add three wlan cards to RB433AH, you'll have three new wireless interfaces. And then you can use them as three separate APs. You can also add virtual APs to each physical interface, but those will share frequency and bandwidth of base interface. You ca...
