Interference between pci cards in x86 box

Hi,

I'd like to put 3 PCI cards (Planet WL-8310, Chipset: AR5212) in my x86 box. First should work on 2312MHz, second on 2412MHz and last wlan card should work on 2472 or 2482MHz.

Would it work without much interference? Should I use 5Mhz for channel capacity instead of 20MHz by default?

Thanks.

Re: Changing winbox port on router

Thanks. I guess I'd have to use your ugly workaround you suggested in previous post.

Re: Changing winbox port on router

Thanks for reply. I found error in my first post. I mixed dst-port with to-ports and also forgot in-interface in my first post. Redirect should be done in this way: /ip firewall nat add chain=dstnat in-interface=public dst-port=5001 to-ports=8219 action=redirect That rule means: whatever comes to tc...

Re: Changing winbox port on router

Thanks. But I use v.2.9 and I think I don't have winbox under /ip service: [admin@MikroTik] ip service> print Flags: X - disabled, I - invalid # NAME PORT ADDRESS CERTIFICATE 0 telnet 23 0.0.0.0/0 1 ftp 21 0.0.0.0/0 2 www 8081 10.10.10.0/24 3 ssh 22 0.0.0.0/0 4 www-ssl 443 0.0.0.0/0 none [admin@Mikr...

Changing winbox port on router

Hi, I'd like to change default port 8291 to something else on my router. Is it possible? If not, should I block access with: /ip firewall filter add chain=input protocol=tcp dst-port=8219 action=drop Then redirect incoming traffic from port 8291 to desired port (eg. 5001): /ip firewall nat add chain...

Re: PCI card TP-LINK TL-WN653AG. Does it work on ROS v2.9?

Thanks. It looks like it's AR5413 chipset. That should be supported by ROS v2.9. And I can guess that it's Atheros chip because of data rate up to 108Mbps. That can only have cards with Atheros chip.

PCI card TP-LINK TL-WN653AG. Does it work on ROS v2.9?

Did anyone tried to use TP-LINK's PCI card TL-WN653AG?

Here are specifications:
802.11a/b/g
up to 108 Mbps data rate
~100mW
RP-SMA connector
http://www.tp-link.com/products/product_des.asp?id=27

Unfortunately I can't find any info about chip. Could it be Atheros that is supported in ROS?

Re: Add L2TP interface to bridge - how?

If you need it only for NetBIOS, eg. Network Neighborhood, than better set up WINS service on your network and configure WinXP hosts to use it. You can find WINS service on MS Windows Server products (eg. MS Windows 2000 Advanced Server), or in Samba package. Most Linux distributions have this packa...

Re: PPTP tunnel and PPPoE server on same interface?

You can't have PPTP and PPPoE on same interface at same time. I use only PPTP and it's working perfectly good. ROS v.2.9, better than v.3.x. If you want PPTP and PPPoE, than you need additional wlan interface. You can secure links with WPA encryption, and disable forwarding of frames between clients...

Re: Nstreme question: enable-polling I don't understand!

Thanks. So, if I understand well, I should set enable-polling to no and put framer-policy to exact-size in order to get a bit better performance on p-t-p link. Or, I should not use nstreme at all?

Nstreme question: enable-polling I don't understand!

Hi,

any idea for enable-polling ?? Should I use it, or not?
I use nstreme on single point-to-point links, so I question myself about this feature. Is there any doc about nstreme to find out how it works?

Re: ROS 3.2 on x86

I have several machines (PC, RB230) now running ROS 3.2 and have no problem.
But, did you install ROS 3.2 yourself or it was pre-installed?

Re: DNS problem

you can use firewall to filter networks which can access your DNS service. Regarding the problem - please write to support with detailed description and a supout.rif file. We will try to repeat and fix it. That's what I thought. I'll use firewall and prevent external access to DNS service. I think ...

DNS problem

As some of you noticed, there are some problems with DNS cache service. I use v.2.9.27 and it stops working after few minutes:

Perhaps someone is poisoning DNS service when router has public ip.

winbox does not work in wine

I use Puppy Linux v2.12. When I start winbox in terminal window, I get this message and winbox stop working: wine: glibc >= 2.3 without NPTL or TLS is not a supported combination. It will most likely crash. Please upgrade to a glibc with NPTL support. Any idea what to do? What is NPTL and TLS?

mode=bridge & default-forwarding=yes ??

Hi,

does it make sense to put wlan interface in bridge mode and leave default-forwarding of frames?

Bridge mode is for only one client, so, would it be better for performance to put default-forwarding to off?
