Can I enable UPnP on my local bridged ap

Sun Nov 25, 2018 1:09 pm

Hey guys!

I've got a pretty strange setup at home. We use a radio link system which is coming from our provider's domicile. They have some kind of Mikrotik to send the internet to us (This is called "gateway.home" and has the IP 192.168.1.1). This one serves as Gateway for our bridged AP Mikrotik hAP Lite (192.168.1.253).

Now my question: I have a PC where I play an XBOX game (Forza Horizon 4) and it can't connect to the Online-Server. I used to look at the XBOX-App (installed on Windows 10) and it showed me NAT-typed: strict.

Is it somehow possible to change the NAT-type on my router or do I have to contact my ISP to do that on their router?

Thanks for your help!

Your ISP will need to make this change for you. It's incredibly simple and easy for them to set up but UPnP is looked down on due to it being a huge security risk. You may be better off setting your XBOX to a static non DHCP ranged IP and then asking for relevant ports to be forwarded to it.

Your home setup is not strange, it's the future!
