CAP Lite as independent access point

Wed Jun 10, 2020 9:43 am

Hi. I have a CAP Lite ap connected to a Mikrotik router (Rb750gr3) and managed via CAPsMAN. Is there a way how to configure this access point as a simple home access point independent of CAPsMAN please? I only have one access point so I think CAPsMAN is an overkill in my case. thanks

Agree, don't use CAPsMAN but configure it manually. Check this site (and only use WPA2/AES):

Thank you but my router does not have wireless capabilities so I have a CAP lite access point connected to the router via Ethernet. In other words, my Wireless>WiFi Interfaces list is empty

You are aware that the CAP Lite is running RouterOS and can be configured directly (using Winbox)?

since your cap lite has been controlled by capsman, all you need to do is just to disable capsman manage on your wireless interface.
here the simple steps:
  1. login to your cap lite using winbox or webfig.
  2. go to wireless menu.
  3. click on "CAP" button.
  4. uncheck "Enabled" option and click OK. now you have unlink your cap lite from capsman.
on the wireless, you'll see that the red comments telling you about "managed by capsman" has gone, now you need to enable & configure your wlan1 interface manually. just double click on the interface and set all required parameters there.
don't forget to add the wlan1 interface to the bridge port to link your wireless interface to lan.
