Now that Hotspot MAC-based logins can use passwords, I can finally look into deploying a Mikrotik hotspot (my old RADIUS server refuses to authenticate accounts with blank passwords, and for historical reasons I'm kinda stuck with it).

If the password in /ip hotspot profile (blah) mac-auth-password doesn't match the password for the account on the RADIUS server, you can't log in. That's to be expected. A "correct" combination of username and password, though, leaves this message in the Mikrotik system log:

hotspot error info debug
00:11:22:33:44:55 (10.232.184.248): internal error: login failed: ippool acquire failed

Any suggestions on where to look, or anything I can provide to help you track this one down? This basically is the one feature I've really wanted for a few months now, and I'd hate for it not to work.

Hi MrSmith, me too have that problem, but i don´t authenticate my client by mac adrress, just use user and password. When upgrade from 2.9.50 to 3.0 start the problem, the only way was make binding to users who call me because was not to login in th hostpot. Any suggestion?

this "login failed: ippool acquire failed" bug will be fixed in the next release of the routeros.
