btest server

Fri Apr 01, 2005 7:28 am

just a question . why is it that btest server taps the processor to 100% ?

i am running a 1.3 p3 system ,128mb ram , 128 cf on a dfi socket 370 board

running the test on a wireless link for testing on the bench. i get only about 5.0 mb thruput . but what my issue is the processor being tapped to 100% of usage . is this normal ..

also tested this on LAN TO LAN

running same test on two MT one being a p4 2.4, 256mb ddr, 128 cf and the other is the box above . still taps the 1.3 out but seems to still tap the unit on processor usage.

this is normal, when testing performance of a wireless link always remember:

* do not test `router-to-router` test `btest-router-wireless-router-btest`
so that you actually run the test `over` the link, not from one point to the other. because, as you already noticed, the Btest takes up CPU resources, because it generates all kinds of random data for the test.
