Hi I have a what I think to be a fairly simple question.
As I am new to wireless my explanation may be lacking some of the proper terminology for this I apoligize.
From my initial testing with 802.11b/g networking I am finding if I set up an access point at say 802.11b on channel 6 all users I connect to this access point share the available 8mbit of throughput. Is there any known way that I could configure a routeros device to somehow allow users access to x amount of bandwidth at any given time from a pool of say 20mbit of available bandwidth without adding more access points/antennas?
So basicly want this one access point and one antenna to be able to distribute the 20mbit of available bandwidth to my client base and not only 8mbit. Trying to avoid useing 802.11g as to avoid interference.
Basicly in my mind would work something like this
Customer A connects has access to a pool of 20mbit uses 5mbit
Customer B connects has access to a remaining pool of 15mbit uses 5mbit
Customer C connects has access to a remaining pool of 10mbit uses 8mbit
Customer D connects has access to remaining pool of 2mbit uses 1mbit
remaining 1mbit evenly distributed between clients.
I've heard some people saying Motorola Canopy does something of this nature. But really don't wanna give those guys my money, rather help the underdog!
Thanks and hope to have fun and learn and help on the Mikrotik forums.
