Winbox loses connection to RB

Thu Feb 21, 2008 4:25 pm

Hi all,

Can anybody help me with this problem here?

I have a RB333 which I would like to access with Winbox

When starting Winbox and I click on "..." after 1/2 second I can see my routerboard
MAC / IP / Identity / Version

When I click connect, the PC connects to the routerboard, but after 4 seconds a msg come up with
"Router has been disconnected" and "Could not connect to 'MAC Address' Port 20561"

Access via Telnet and TeraTerm works fine?!?

Windows firewall is switched off

Thanks,
Chris

If it doesn't work from another PC as well, try to Netinstall it with the latest 3.3.

Or reset the configuration to default by Using the reset Jumper on your board, short it with the plastic shorter thingy, restart router, and hopefully it works for you. good luck -Jordan

Disable "Secure mode" when using MAC address connection. It's been a problem since 3.x.

It is a problem since 3.xx version...winbox never worked for me(always disconnect) from RC to 3.3 from RB133 to x86.

IP winbox works fine if your PC has the same network as the router you want to connect. (Or proper routed). In this case mac-winbox always drops on me after some seconds.

But if the PC is not in the same network, IP-Winbox does not work (logical) but the mac-winbox works fine.
