Get ISP info

Fri May 17, 2024 12:19 pm

Is there a way to get ISP info (name, external IP) by running a script?
I have several WANs and I want to create a web status page where I can see which ISP is currently connected to which WAN port.
I will try to parse a website like ipregistry.co from the relevant WAN port, but I wonder if there is a better way to get this information.

Unless I am mistaking, once you set up the device, the ISP will stay the same for each individual port ?
So why the need to retrieve that info ? You know it.

Not in my case, we are currently located at a remote site where ISPs are satellite terminals and wireless PtP bridges. Internet connections are very unstable with floating bandwidth. We constantly monitor ISPs and change them depending on stability and bandwidth.

It depends on how the routing tables are configured. if you have mixed tables with various domains it's easy to fix it with a script. if you only have one use active at a time it wouldn't make sense
