DNS Adlist logging

Fri Jun 14, 2024 11:40 am

Hello,

I like the new DNS Adlist functionality but I want more info out of it.
I mean that I want to know the IP matches in some form. There is no option to do that, yet.
I wonder if there will be an option, enabling it it's up to your peace of mind and... hardware.
Is there something already implemented in system logging? If so and anyone knows it please shout.

Kind regards,
Paul

This function is still being finalized, so the functionality will be expanded in the future. Which one exactly? Then we'll find out)

You can always add a "dns, !packet" logging rule and see if it is useful for you.
Unfortunately the configuration of the logging system lacks flexibility.

This would be a simple: log on DNS Adlist entry match. Even simpler: log on match.
And for the system logging a nice adition would be dns-info-adlist in order to have it on disk or even mailed.

Paul

StevenBlack's list is wonderful pihole dream but occasionally it can block false positive. The entries are not perfect.
Yes, you can have a file AND url (not tested) but when it comes to substraction/ignore entry from the two variants it would be nice to have a third entry like: always ignore this manual file, let's call it "! File"
Meaning: let's use StevenBlack's wonderlist dynamically updated but always ignore what's in my small, personal, precious list of entries.
