Prefer DFS channels on hAP AX3

Thu Sep 19, 2024 3:48 pm

Hello there, is it possible to prioritize DFS channels? As the channel selection algorithm seems to prefer non DFS channels despite they’re heavily congested.

As far as I understand if you pass only DFS channels in the frequency options it won’t have any fallback when a radar is detected, is this correct?

Correct.
You can specify the frequency range yourself but if it's only DFS range and DFS is detected, it's radio silence when that happens ...
A bit logical those are not used that much, everyone tries to avoid them.

BTW heavily congested ? You obviously need to take into account your client devices but I doubt UNII-3 ranges are frequently used ?

Thanks for the quick reply! In the interface status I can see there's a list of channel priorities however it doesn't seem possible to customize them

Outside of the EU UNII-1 and UNII-3 concentrate the higher amount of APs as DFS is not required to operate on these frequencies, I have neighbor whose ISP router is running at 160MHz AX on 5180-5320MHz but most of them run at 80MHz on 5745-5805MHz.
