Depends. You haven't provided enough information to determine anything.

The theoretical answer depends upon the power (and quality) of the wireless cards and what you set them to (are you willing to risk running them flat out?), local regulations as to what maximum power you can use (and whether you can ignore them), the strength of the antennas and the accuracy with which they are aligned, and the length and type of cables and connectors between card and antenna. It also depends upon what is an acceptable data rate for you - if you're happy with 6MBps you can get a lot further than if you want 54MBps!

What you can actually achieve depends on the theoretical answer subject to your specific local conditions - smog, rain, dust, temperature-inversion layers, other electro-magnetic interference can all affect radio signals over long distances.

So... it depends. Look back through the forums to see what others have achieved and how.

Even under difficult rf conditions you can achieve 50km with high levels of reliability.

under difficult rf conditions = 50Km high level of reliability
best rf conditions = ???????

this is totaly misleading answer...

Hence my original post. There are no absolutes when it comes to RF. Especially with the hoop la between brands.

For instance:

I used a 15dBi Yagi antenna at an install. Signal was unusable.
Replaced with a 13dBi antenna from another manufacturer and the signal was twice as high.

Actually, its a totally accurate answer. We've been using MT for six years now in some of the worst RF conditions in the world. We do 50km+ on each backbone link.

I didn't say what we used to do it, just that it can be done. If you want details, use search, its been posted before...

Get a grip and quit whining. This is getting like the "Canadian" forum where one or two people feel they have to have a five word answer to every post. It adds zero value aside from bringing up the post count of the people concerned.

can we just know whts this worst conditions ?
there are too many factors effecting the wireless links , its not a mikrotik issue , or type of miniPci cards only .. a lot of many other factors .. line of site , hight of nodes , fresnal zone ,the frequency used , noise floor , interference , obsticals ( buildings , trees ) , the sun effect , weather temperature , humidity .................... etc ..

Read the end of this thread.
http://forum.mikrotik.com//viewtopic.ph ... 559#p86559

The OP asked a simple question. The answer is, if you set it up right, you can generally get 50kms out of a modern MikroTik point-to-point installation. Note the words "modern" and "Point to Point"!

You may have to do some work to get it stable, and there will always be some situations where it just won't work for RF or regulatory reasons, but it is generally possible.

As I said in my original answer, "Even under difficult rf conditions you can achieve 50km with high levels of reliability."
