bandwidth limitation on Mktk Access Point ...

Wed May 21, 2008 8:21 pm

Hello,

A Mktk wireless service works well mostly but there is one very old problem which I never got either answered nor solved.

A connection scenario is based on Mktk Access Point - APbridge + WDS + bridge1 interface (wlan1+ether1).
In total there are 10 associated WDS clients with different bandwidth limitations - from 2Mb to 4Mb on different distances from AP (3km - 10km).
The problem occurs if any of clients starts constantly using bandwidth for example Rx. on wlan1 (on AP side) goes up to 3Mb (steady traffic) which is made by one of the SU's only.
At that moment nobody is able to use bandwidth - latency test (ping) goes to ~400-600ms and average bandwidth test shows no more than ~10-30kb.

What can be a reason of a such behaviour ? Is that a Mikrotik OS limitation because I have tried playing with different Atheros wlan cards with the same outcome in the end or is that Atheros cards limitation ? What is also important - Mktk wireless p-to-p works well - the only problem is with standard AP bridge mode ... I can understand if let's say one of the SU's does broadcast throughout the bridge all over the place but the thing happens even with simple FTP download/upload ... if somebody starts downloading a big file nobody on the same AP is able to work normally !

I appreciate any suggestion or help regarding this issue.

Thank you,
D.

Hi,

sorry, but never seen such a behavior in hundreds of WISP installations we did with different MT hardware and RouterOS versions. Their must be a configuration fault at your side.
