i have a simple PtP WDS bridge over wifi with nstreme. RB411 ROS 3.10 on both ends

we've been doing speed tests(which are unsatisfactory as @108mbps we barely get 34~24mbps fluctuating TCP-SMB real speed, but that's another subject that doesn't come to the case now) and i've noticed that the framer NEVER gets used as there's no speed/latency difference at all on any framer setting/air condition.

we've tested best fit with 3200 packet size and dynamic(which on the registration table shows as "exact size" of 1536 bytes which never changes, so much for dynamic there....) which isn't dynamic at all but fixed @1536 bytes.

now on the registration table, the endpoint shows both lines of "packed frames/bytes" statistics blank(no matter which framer config).

how do i make sure the framer gets used(or if it's being used at all?), do i need to change the bridge MTU from 1500 to the nstreme framer limit?(but what would that accomplish if fast eth frames are 1500bytes fixed).

i hope someone can untangle my brain on this matter as i want to squeeze every little bps i can of my connection

I have much higher throughput than you with rb411 - about 35 for 20mhz channel and for turbo I get high 50's

this is with nstream and no framer

I think your problem is in the rf side of the house with interference.

noise floor is -103dB, there's noone in the entire area using 802.11a, SNR is usually above 25dB, 30+ when 54mbps is achieved. But the speed is capped @35mbps no matter what we do. i've tried ANI enabled/disabled, nothing.

i'm using nstreme with polling and csma disabled, short preamble.

but apart from that, my worries are on how to make the framer operate

I understand your desire to understand / resolve framer issues with this ver of ROS. I am interested in the answer as well. Aside from that you won't get more than about 35mb throughput with 20mhz channel on 5ghz. You need to switch to 5ghz turbo mode to get in the higher 50's.

Someone else will correct me if I am wrong.

i hope someone from mikrotik sees this threads and sheds some light on the matter.

my guess is that since the wireless interface MTU, the WDS MTU and the bridge MTU are all 1500 bytes, then the nstreme framer will never work(or doesn't appears to work).

About my throughtput, i'm already using turbo(check my first post, i'm stating 108mbps), otherwise i wouldn't get even 15mbps peak

Aside from the framer you have most likely interference. I know you say the air is clean there but there is 95% chance that there is something you can't see or you are shooting over water or something and having reflection problem. Look at you CCQ numbers. Just cause you can't see it doesn't mean its not there. There is all kinds of RF that the Mikrotik Can't see when showing you the numbers.

You should get the throughput I provided above with clean RF.

CCQ is usually high 80's to 100% both ways when running 35mbit transfers.
whilst transferring, noise floor doesn't moves(i've tried changing freq across the board no difference).

frames vs HW frames doesn't shows much skew either, and signal str is -68~ (again, all this parameters are on a good day when i do those transfer tests).

My link is a particular one either way as i'm violating fresnel vertically and horizontally and i'm running in a light-NLOS environment too
