I am in the process of updating the HARDWARE on three 4 year old MT HotSpot systems which are (were) currently running 2.8.15. I got the first unit "up and running" but encountered the problem that when I loaded 2.8.15 on the new machine and installed the old backup, all of the etherX IDs changed and the ADDRESS PRINT showed the etherX ID as "UNKNOWN". I fixed that and got up and running but there were some other "not obvious" things that did not carry over in the RESTORE on the new machine as well.. Then on the SECOND machine, the exact same thing happened. In my cases, On the first system, ether1, ether2, ether3 became ether1, ether5 and ether6. In the second system, ether1, ether2 became ether6 and ether7.
This is an aggrivation and is also time consuming. Is there any fix for this? I was under the impression that buying a new license, loading the old software and the backup and "The New would be a Mirror of the Old System".
What am I missing here? Why is this happening? Is there any solution other than manual labor?
Do the newer systems still have this anomoly?
