RC2 wireless setting not sticking

Fri May 13, 2005 9:00 pm

After upgrading to rc2 from rc1, wireless band frequency will not keep its 2.4 b/g setting, jumps back to 5mhz and disables. After reboot settings stick for about and hour then jumps back.

here are the default settings upon reboot:

[admin@MT] interface wireless> print
Flags: X - disabled, R - running
0 X name="wlan1" mtu=1500 mac-address=00:02:6F:20:F4:33 arp=enabled disable-running-check=no interface-type=Atheros AR5212 radio-name="00026F20F433"
mode=station ssid="MT" area="" frequency-mode=manual-txpower country=no_country_set antenna-gain=0 frequency=5180 band=5ghz scan-list=default
rate-set=default supported-rates-b=1Mbps,2Mbps,5.5Mbps,11Mbps supported-rates-a/g=6Mbps,9Mbps,12Mbps,18Mbps,24Mbps,36Mbps,48Mbps,54Mbps
basic-rates-b=1Mbps basic-rates-a/g=6Mbps max-station-count=2007 ack-timeout=dynamic tx-power=default tx-power-mode=default
noise-floor-threshold=default periodic-calibration=default burst-time=disabled fast-frames=no dfs-mode=none antenna-mode=ant-a wds-mode=disabled
wds-default-bridge=none wds-ignore-ssid=no update-stats-interval=disabled default-authentication=yes default-forwarding=yes default-ap-tx-limit=0
default-client-tx-limit=0 hide-ssid=no security-profile=default disconnect-timeout=3s on-fail-retry-time=100ms preamble-mode=both

p.s. when settings jump to 802.11a, and changes made give this error:

scan-list does not include any supported channel

Only way to make changes is to reboot and do right there.

Notice wireless drops when client tries to connect, while in winbox as client trys to authenticate, wireless changes from 802.11b to 802.11a.
When change happens, it's impossible to change it back. Reboot fixes until clients try to connect.

Please send your supout file to support@mikrotik.com with the same description above.

We have heard of this issue with other clients and would like to get it fixed as quickly as possible.

I don't think any reinstallation would help. We are trying to reproduce the failure here. We also need your supout file that shows the configuration you have set on your radio (before it is lost).

RC3 has a fix for losing config when you use radius mac authentication for wireless. Also, now when their is a wireless failure, it will not lose the configuration, but all clients will be disconnected and reconnected. We haven't found the main bug yet so please keep sending the supout files for rc3.
