RB600 + Dual-NStreme + Unbalanced Traffic

Tue Aug 26, 2008 12:53 pm

Hi,

I have a client with the following situation:

RB600's, signals bottom -50s, SR5 and XR5 cards tried (no difference between results)

Traffic through the link generated with external units using IXchariot. Single connection, 30Mbit both directions. Works flawlessly.
However, when doing a test with multiple connections, each limited to 6Mbit shows that the traffic becomes unbalanced. ie. RX is 32Mbit, TX is 57Mbit and then RX is 9Mbit, TX is 72Mbit.

When using an x86 platform with a 600Mhz CPU the traffic is balanced with every test.

I don't see how an identical config on an x86 platform should perform flawlessly while the RB600 PPC platform becomes unbalanced when you exceed the 30Mbit full-duplex point.

Has anyone had similar issues with the Rb600? Is this limitation of the RB600, the CPU used, the RouterOS on that particular platform? Maybe we are overlooking something? Any suggestions from anyone?

be sure to upgrade the firmware.

/system routerboard pr
will tell you the version.

/system routerboard upgrade
will upgrade the firmware.

You may have to either update to the latest ROS version, or download the latest bios from routerboard.com

Everything is latest version. v3.13 RouterOs and v2.16 firmware.

Any other ideas?
