MTU, Netbios Hangs and Radmin close connections

Tue Sep 02, 2008 10:50 am

I have the following topology.

Two Wan connections one managed with a Mikrotik RB1000 and the other by a Drytek 3300. Over the 3300 there are 10 vpn tunnels working without any problem.

We get working one VPN connection over the Mikrotik RB1000 and all seems to be working good, but;

1) When we try to make a copy via netbios over the VPN managed with the Mikrotik the copy hangs ramdomly between 1 and 3 minutes after start. The file has 275 MB.

2) When from the lan side of the Mikrotik we stablish a radmin session to the PCs on the draytek 3300 VPN segment the connections are lost and session closed ramdomly.

All the network interfaces in the Mikrotik has MTU 1500 and the PPTP server has 1460. I have a Mangle rule to downgrade the MTU to 1420.

I hope someone could help me, couse I am getting mad with this ramdom error.

Greetings

Make sure you are not NAT'ting the connections from the pptp client to the local lan.

I am not natting the connection between LAN and VPN, only between LAN and other DSL connection that I have.
