How to reach more than 70Mbits

Sat Sep 20, 2008 3:39 pm

Hello everyone

I`m trying different setups with 2 rb 433 and four minipci rb52H cards to reach speed over 60Mbit in one direction.
1.I`ve tried nstreme-dual forcing turbo-mode channel-width 40Mhz and 5210 in one direction and 5800 in other.In
bandwidth-test i achieve 100Mbits in direction and 50Mbits both.But when i have traffic between rb(tcp downloads,uploads) i can never reach more than 50Mbits.
2.I`ve tried bonding with routing and wireless in turbo with nstreme. The same thing one direction bandwidth-test more than 100 Mbits both 50Mbits, but one direction download/upload through rb never reached more than 60 Mbits.
3.I`ve tried bonding with bridging ether and bonding interface and receive the same result as routing.

On both bonding tests tried bonded mode from balance-rr and broadcast.

Is that right and if so is there a way to achieve one way speed more than 70 Mbits?

Thank you in advance.

did you try to turn off the connection tracking (and all firewall rules)?

I dont think you can reach more than 70mbps per radio.

You have to remember that the 50 mbits of TCP throughput is actually quite good. TCP requires ACK traffic and thus, unlike UDP, can only run a fraction of the bandwidth across a wireless link. The most TCP I have ever seen is about 30 mbits on a single nstreme, so I would imagine the 60 mbits you are seeing is about the limit.

I´m agree... in the btest, all gone fine.. but in work.... 30-35mbps is the limit.

get rid of the routerboards if you want speed.
i have a wireless link on 15km distance and a pentium 450mhz on each side.
I have managed to get 60mbit speed in one direction on turbo mode @ 5ghz

He's talking over 70mbps man, not 60mbps. P3 450Mhz is weak.

With RB333 you can max out a 5GHz turbo link.
So there is no need for a PC-Board with all it's
needless HW on board. Gives a much smarter
installation (POE, Small housing).

I use rb433 with XR5 card turbo mode and get 70mbps one way. Do this with dual nstreme and it would be full duplex 70mbps. There is environment variables to consider.

Yeap I`ve already achieve this but i thought there must be a way to get more than 70Mbit in one direction.

Sure add another XR5 card and more CPU :)
