RB433 'timed out' in winbox

Wed Sep 24, 2008 6:32 pm

Hi
We are having a prolbem with RB433 OS. Sometimes we can't connect to it using winbox or telnet.
It shows an error like 'could not connect to [mac]... timed out'.
We had this problem with some MK installed in a tower and we had to change them!
Now we could connect to it through serial port, and reset it and now it works fine and we can use winbox again.

But we need to know why this happens because it is'nt very good when it happens in a MK which is installed at 50m high! It's really a problem! And this had happens to us several times.

thanks!

regards

Use the IP address of the routerboard instead of the MAC address. Connecting to the mac address using winbox over a wireless link doesn't always work so well.

What are the signal strengths? Does the wireless link have any issues besides the winbox disconnect?

So the ethernet run is 50m? Make sure you are using cat5 cable with the 586A or B wiring standard for the connectors on a cable run that long.

If you ping the router do any packets get dropped?

We change the cable, and it also happens with a small patchcord
It does responds pings!
but no winbox or telnet
