Why can't Userman change PPPoE Dynamic Queues on the fly?

Tue Jun 24, 2008 8:40 pm

Hi

Can somebody please tell me why Usermanager cannot change Dynamic Queues on a remote router on-the fly?

The PPPoE active session must first be disconnected before the new speed settings takes effect from Usermanager via the radius protocol.

Can somebody please tell me how the rate limits of a dynamic PPPoE setting can be altered without disconnecting the user?

Any help will be appreciated.

A dynamic queue is created upon authentication of the PPPoE session. Dynamic entries can never be changed, only removed.

It would be nice if UM could kick a user when rates are modified from the UM GUI. Perhaps another button which says SAVE AND KICK instead of only SAVE on the UM GUI.

I normally kick the user manually when I changed rate settings.

Mikrotik, wink wink!

Hi Giepie

Thanks for your reply.

I have realized it as well, that there is no way to alter dynamic queues of pppoe sessions on the fly.

That would be possible, if User Manager supported RADIUS incoming messages. But currently it is not supported, as far as I know there are plans to add support for such feature in the new User Manager.
