RouterOS v3.x and RB100 series boards problem

Thu Nov 13, 2008 11:01 am

We had several issues while upgradin RB112 and RB133c boards to v3.x RouterOS.
1. CPU usage goes sky high
2. Board dies after upgrade. It is impossible to get it working even with serial cable.

You need to uninstall/disable all unnessecary packages. V3 takes more resources..

Hi Henrik,

we already did that. We are running:
1. advanced-tools
2. ntp
3. routerboard
4. security
5. system
6. wireless

but CPU stays at 100%. Bad luck ...

did you upgrade firmware?
/system routerboard upgrade

And about boards deaths, don't disable any package or something else while rebooting for upgrade. I killed 3 RBs like that

I see this from time to time also.
When this happens I telnet in via command prompt whilst connected directly to the ether port.
Once in, and this could be slow, you must do:
sys reset-conf
then answer yes.

I might take some time for the board to reset the config, but be patient.

Then reconfigure from scratch.
