another antenna alignment question

Mon Dec 29, 2008 7:47 pm

I have a location that is line of site, 1.5 miles away from each other. Using a 900 MHz Antenna for backhaul. I can see the antennas, but the noise greatly outweighs the signal strength.

When you setup locations with different elevations, line of sight or non-line of sight, how do you align your antennas?

What have you found to be the optimal way to align antennas?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Why would you use 900 MHz for LOS applications?
Use 5 GHz, it's cheaper, faster, and has much less noise.

I allign antennas by eye and then use the allignment tool in Winbox to fine tune it.

Well, I was only using them because they were laying around. But I took your advice, and ordered me some (5.8 GHz 23 dBi Flat Patch) antennas for this shot.

:)

Let yah know how it turns out.
